Had the lechon combo and then a side of lumpia for another body with me. First of all, EVERYTHING looked and SOUNDED amazing. Queen Adobo is on my to try list next!
The lechon came with juicy flavorful (and NOT lard gushing) meat that were seasoned just enough so that you appreciate the texture unami of it. It was topped off with glistening perfectly slow fried pork skin with just the right amount of crunch and bite. I chose garlic rice as a side and it was buoyant with every mouthful and garnished with a hefty portion of fried garlic to heighten the taste. It melded so well with the juices and renderings from the pork and the pickled vegetables. Speaking of, the pickled veemgetqbles were such a great synergizer for this dish to help balance out the richness of the pork and rice. It was slightly more vinegar but seemed to be intent which is a great call. That extra umpf of vinegar woke up my senses to every palette cleanse so that I could re experience every new bite of the lechon. Absolutely phenomenal.
Lastly the lumpia. No mess no fuss pork concoction wrapped neatly and tightly in rice wrappings for a delightful pick me up. It was not soggy and l the pork meatless was actually registered instead of many other restaurants these days. It was a refreshing morsel and even more refreshing with the slight spicy and sour tang of the orange dipping sauce it came with. Just simple delights brought to the next level!
All in all this would be a resounding success and honestly it was not just good food but an EXPERIENCE to have in my opinion and definitely vying for #1 restaurant at the Post for me. Though I still have a few restaurants to fancy there.
If you dont believe me, than I leave you with this quote, "your mom" lol, huge S/O to the owner(presumably) who helped to take our order. You've earned a returning customer in me and anyone interested in delicious...
Read moreWe went to POST HTX for the FAHM(Filipino American Heritage Month) Fest yesterday. Soy Pinoy was one of the vendors but their line was long and I was starvin like Marvin. So we went inside the Food hall and ordered from there. Easy peasy process, you order, grab a table and they text you when the food is ready. We opted for the BBQ pork that came with rice for $18, side order of fried egg for $3 and also tried the Anytime breakfast Silog meal for $16. For anyone not familiar with Silog, it means sinangag and itlog= garlic friend rice and egg. They were serving Tapa with the Silog meals that day so l opted for that. When I got the food, I noticed that the BBQ pork was super fatty : ( it had great Filipino bbq flavor but it was too fatty for our liking. The beef tapa was also fatty and full of gatil (ligaments) which made it super tough to chew. The rice that came with it was just regular rice- Silog meals are supposed to have garlic fried rice hence the name so that was a disappointment. The vinegar dip it came with was good though. The flavors on the meat were there but was disappointing about the super fatty meat we...
