I have been in Houston 3 months now going to MD Anderson unfortunately and had surgery on Monday July 11th. My favorite place this whole time to eat has been Corner Bakery in the Heights. I got home Wens July 13th and sent my mom up there to grab a online togo order. She gets there and the order is not there they tell me. I retell them my order and they make her pay for it. Later on I look at my account and it is charged for the order they say got lost. So I call, they tell me they will let the GM know the problem and call me back. I receive no call back, so thursday July 14th comes and I call back. I speak with Meredith, who tells me I have to come all the way back in to get a refund even though I gave her the receipt numbers from my online order and from the one my mom had to pay for, but I said ok I will send her in tomorrow. So today happens and my mother makes it back in, with my bank account screenshot and my email of the confirmation, then she tells her she will have to go look up the order. So my mom orders us dinner in the meantime, 10 mins after getting the food Meredith comes back out to tell her she found the charge and will refund it to my card. 4 phones calls, and two trips to the place to settle an $18 order. I am going through so much with everything and then my favorite place turns into this. Being in business and having been to your place I expected lots of apologizing and at the very least a comp'd meal for the hassle, but we received none of that. I am extremely disappointed in the customer service and wanted you to know.
Update: Two weeks later and I still never got the refund they...
Read moreI wrote this last night when I first discovered this particular Corner Bakery Cafe on Yale Street got my order wrong and I was emotional and overwrought, and after calming down and reviewing what I wrote I feel I should write a full review from a place of calm. This is an effort to provide that.
Last night my wife wanted chicken pasta. I was hoping for a nice sandwich. We stopped by this location in person and I went in and ordered our food to go. We were close to the only customers at the location at the time, they were not busy in any way.
They politely delivered our food to us in our car and we drove to a park. My moved our dog and our selves out to a picnic table some distance from where we parked and sat down to eat.
Only to discover that they had not placed my nice sandwich in the bag, but instead gave me a cup of potato soup in its place.
This is the third time this location has made a huge mistake on my order, the first two times they apologized profusely, promised to change, and gave me complimentary meals to make up for the mistake.
Like an abused partner, I let my affection override my good judgement. But I clearly see now that they will not change, that they have no intention, desire, or pathway to change. That this is who they are.
If I were to go back it would be accepting their failures and acknowledging that's the best I deserve.
Well I won't do that, I refuse to continue to be a party to this ongoing mediocracy, I'll leave it for others who think that's the best...

I have the 1/2 n 1/2. My sandwich was good, my baked potato soup was great, and my garlic bread was the bomb. However... I ordered a large drink to go. Got my drink and went for a lid, but there was only 1 left in the container box. Well, the container box was dirty, I'm ocd and I was not about to put that lod on my drink. So...there was a girl preparing drink near the take out section and I asked "I'm sorry do you have anymore large lids". She went to the dirty container to get the one there. I told her that I didn't want that one and asked if she had anymore. She immediately got an attitude, became frustrated and said "I guess I'll have to check the back". She went back there, came out with a stack and said "here, I guess you can grab it yourself". I apologized to here and said "I'm so sorry, I'm really ocd and I just couldn't use that lid, sorry to inconvenience you". She didn't respond. Said nothing. Not even "no worries, its no problem, my pleasure"...nothing. I thought "hmmm, that was rude" and went on about my day.
Now...a simple incident like this would make me not visit an establishment again, simply because the customer service wasn't in it with this chic.
I really was "sorry to inconvenience her". So...yeah, the drive from Jersey Village to 59 & Kirby won't...
