This place was a surprise to me. I remember at one point this place was fantastic. Especially known for its fajitas. These days it's a far cry from those old days. The chicken fajitas were not marinated or seasoned at all. Now the beef fajitas we're pretty good. I ordered the mix. What really surprise me about this place where the prices. I mean they have gone up a lot. $24 and change for chicken and beef fajita for one or two people. Now one or two people usually means enough chicken or beef to have two to three tacos. Unbelievably this means you only get to have one taco per person. In my opinion it's a complete rip-off. They literally have small medium and large fajitas. The fact that the chicken is not marinated or seasoned at all really doesn't sell me on the point of price. It comes on a bed of sauteed onions but that's it. No green bell peppers no red bell peppers. Zip. I did not try the lime beef fajitas which according to them is the rave. For me it's really simple you can order beef fajitas and put lime all over them and pay a whole lot less. If I were Guadalajara's I would get rid of the small medium and large and just have a big order of fajitas. People that come to eat fajitas usually come to eat a lot of food. The service was pretty good. The restaurant was clean. I sincerely doubt I will come back for a long while. Ironically you could go to Chili's and Order fajitas and get a whole lot more chicken and beef for a lesser price. To say that Chili's is better than Guadalajara's is really an insult. It is what it is. Maybe Guadalajara's will be better when I go...

Visited Houston after a long time and landed here for a true Tex-Mex experience with multiple vegetarian options and here’s how it went: On a weekday around Noon, there was plenty of parking and only few people in the restaurant. The ambiance was attempt at hacienda feel with wooded beams, low lights, antique posters, cowboy gear, stained glass appearance, with small courtyard seating option. This made the wait seem ok. Very courteous waiter got us baskets of wafer thin hot fresh nacho chips, very mild salsa and drinks (several non-alcoholic options) that were okay-ish flavor. We selected vegetarian quesadilla, vegetarian enchilada, and vegetable fajita platters. The quesadilla was very good, enchilada was not bad, but the fajita was disappointing, had non traditional veggies like asparagus, was a bit burnt. If you get the corn tortilla, ask them to grill or cook it, tasted uncooked and didn’t work with the fajita wrapping. The guacamole was just okay, everything seemed very tamed down, hardly any jalapeños or the authentic spiciness or the delicious Mexican cheeses that one would expect from a true tex-mex experience! We ordered a fried ice-cream which didn’t appear long after we finished lunch not sure why since there was hardly anyone in the restaurant! We never saw the waiter again so left without the dessert. Left feeling like I didn’t a hearty, holistic...

We just had lunch there and left very upset. We notified our waitress from the jump that my husband was allergic to all dairy. When we were ordering the chicken flautas, she assured us that there was no cheese inside the flautas but that it came with sour cream, avocado crema and queso fresco on top. We told her repeatedly that we didn’t want any of that because he is allergic to dairy. The food comes out and looks fine so my husband ate his first bite. When going for the second bite, he noticed it was stringy. I opened it up and it definitely looked like it had some sort of cheese. We asked our waitress about it, and she responded with “flautas don’t have cheese in them. They are never made like that.” I asked her why it was stringy, to which she responded “we use shredded chicken.” I asked her several times to check with the kitchen and she finally agreed after going back and forth with me about how they don’t have cheese in it. She’s come back and says “they make it with a littleeeeee cheese, so would you like to order something else?” Like ZERO remorse. Not even a tiny apology. NOTHING. Acted like everything was normal.

We are now home and my husband’s body is literally red ALL OVER and he’s having stabbing pains in his stomach. This is completely UNACCEPTABLE and we will never go back to...

This was my first legit Tex Mex restaurant outing in the great state of Texas. I was warned by my kids that if I didn’t seek out this food group while visiting Houston, I would “fail” - so, on our last day, this restaurant was recommended by a good friend of ours. We live in Calgary and I’ve not experienced true Tex Mex there (with all due respect to the restaurants in my home city). I knew of and tried some dishes that would be considered in that category and, truth be told, I was never really impressed. Well, hold onto your ten gallon hats people, cuz Guadalajara is righteous. The server brought us standard tortilla chips to start with salsa, but the kicker started with the order of guacamole. All I can say is “HOW?” I have never, ever had such flavourful guacamole. Ever. We had: - tortilla soup with chicken and avocado - roasted poblano soup with chicken and avocado - Tex mex empanadas - shrimp, chicken and beef fajita platter - fried chicken enchiladas - shrimp avocado relleno with Tex mex quinoa salad - homemade churros and ice cream Pictures of all are posted. Every single dish was flavourful, fresh and delicious. If you ever, ever go to Houston, stop here. Be prepared to reach a new level of Tex Mex food enjoyment.

I chose to dine here after it was recommended by several people in Houston. It was a shining recommendation because the reviews said it very true to real Mexican food. That was all I needed to hear!! Off I went to see for myself what this place has to offer. I must confess that Guadalajara DID NOT disappoint! The house-made chips and salsa were a good start. You can tell they are made there because of the freshness. Next was a lunch dish that I chose. It was a beef enchiladas plate, and it was delicious!! I opted for the combo plate. One big beef enchilada and one chicken burrito. It came with cilantro rice and black beans. They complimented the entree well. Also, the size of the portion is a satisfying portion (no need to overstuff myself). Lastly, I ordered two mango margaritas. These margaritas came with a bit of tajin and a tamarind candy covered straw. They were a perfect match to what I ordered... and I could feel the effect of the drinks shortly after lol 🙌🏽🙌🏽 I had a great time at this restaurant and decided to return again while I was in town. The second time was just as good as the first. I will definitely keep Guad on my list of good eats in Houston!! Be sure to stop in if ever in H-Town

I haven't been to Guadalajara in a while and craving some good Tex Mex, so a group of us went in on a weekday for lunch. It was not too crowded, not surprising given the pandemic, but we are glad to support one of our favorite restaurants during this time. The place is just as I remembered it, a warm ambiance, friendly and competent servers, and of course, great food. I've had the grilled tilapia, fajitas, flautas, and tacos carbon before and wanted to try something different. The Enchiladas Marisca caught my eye, a seafood enchilada topped with a verde sauce and crab meat. It was excellent and tasted as good as it looked, maybe even better. It was wonderfully light and perfectly seasoned. The portions are huge, even for lunch. I miss the after work party atmosphere of these places, but hopefully we can all get back to that soon. Just be sure to support your local favorites to ensure they will still be there.
