I am a huge fan of Poke and pretty critical when it comes to my favorite Poke spots. I don’t feel like we have many different options inside the Loop or the Heights, so I was excited to try Let’s Poke. Staff was super friendly and location + ambience was great.
I was pretty disappointed with my bowl for $19. I feel like the portion size is not very generous compared to other Poke spots. The fish was fresh, but was cut into smaller than usual chunks, and felt as though they were trying to avoid filling the scoop up completely. My 5 scoop bowl felt more like 3 scoops at any other spot.
The topping choices are standard, maybe a few less options than most spots. It costs $1 extra for more than 1 scoop of toppings. I had House Ponzu and Spicy Mayo, and was shocked that the sauces were almost flavorless. And it costs extra to ask for more sauce. I came home and added salt because i was out of soy sauce for flavor.
I can imagine the rent here is expensive, and understand that it’s not easy to open a restaurant, but compared to Local Poke or Poke in the Bowl in Montrose, this place lacks in value. My honest star rating for this place would be 3, but I don’t want to wreck their average since they are so new.
I may come back to try once more in a few months to see if anything...
Read moreGot pokebowl today. The avocado was brown, not sure how often they change their avocado but it was cold inside the place and the avocado was fully oxidized. Many of the toppings were sold out like salmon, spicy salmon, and lettuce, i understand this is out of the control of staff, so the sold out items does not affect the rating. Staff is generous with the scoop. I did have to wait a few minutes awkwardly before being acknowledged and i had to approach the staff myself first instead. A young lady was friendly. The food itself did not taste very well. I love pokebowls, however the ingredients and toppings just didnt taste well. I tasted a bitter shell of avocado and the edamame was hard. Just didnt finish it. There was a guy next to me who also got a bowl, he didnt finish it either. The cleanliness could be better, the empty bowl and extra plate of the guy next to me was left there for an hour. The drinks tasted very delicious, the food not so much. Check out a different poke spot if youre a poke fan. If you want to have drinks and chat, it has good drinks, there might just be messiness around though if you dont mind. The place is small (does not...
Read moreThe service here is Al way great, especially when the two younger gentlemen are around, they are so patient and caring. The owner will come out and check in on customers when she’s around and offer you new recommendations if you ask. The place is always kept clean as well as restrooms. Now, the ingredients are the real reason I gave a 5 star. They are always freshly cut, they have a scoop option for 1,3,or 5 proteins and then allow you to add all ingredients! The bowl is pretty large so it’s definitely worth the price. They have a card you can get stamped for each bowl to earn a free bowl! Only spot I buy Poke in houston, and I’ve been to...
