Service: My server, Thomas was very kind and helpful. I'd never eaten at this restaurant before, and he explained the menu to me and offered examples of his favorites. Only 4 stars for service because of this: I was sitting inside the small restaurant with only about 4 other people, at least 15 open tables, at one of those long booths that has multiple tables, with chairs sitting on the other side--you know, the kind where you have to turn sideways to get out of your seat in order not to hit the next table? Anyway, I was blissfully enjoying a book and some very rare solitude and peace. And with all of those open tables spread across the small space, the hostess still sat a couple right next to me, interrupting my peace. How incredibly annoying.
Food: I ordered the most popular spicy ramen dish on the menu, according to my server--the Spicy Garnet. The ramen was subpar for me. Noodles were overcooked and soggy, the broth was only warm, not hot, the pork was so tough i could barely pull it apart, even with my teeth. I was finished with all of my toppings before I was even half-way finished with the soggy noodles--one of my pet peeves when it comes to ramen. If you have to order extra toppings to leave a restaurant full, it's a problem, in my book. Was it passable? Yes. Will I come back again? No. Definitely better Ramen...
Read moreWe stopped by for a late lunch on a Saturday afternoon and were seated right away—plenty of indoor and outdoor seating made for a comfortable experience. From the start, the service was excellent. Our waiter was attentive, knowledgeable, and took the time to explain the menu in detail, making us feel well taken care of.
To start, we ordered a variety of appetizers to sample. The vegan bun had a nice flavor, though the filling was a bit cold—not sure if that was intentional. The spicy cucumber, however, was a standout, delivering the perfect balance of heat and crunch. The crispy vegan gyoza lived up to its name in texture, but the filling wasn’t quite to our liking. The aburi salmon, on the other hand, was fresh, thinly sliced, and absolutely delicious.
The highlight of our appetizers? The chicken karaage! Crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside, and perfectly paired with RAKKAN’s signature sriracha sauce—it was an instant favorite.
For the main course, I opted for the Spicy Garnet ramen with chicken chashu. The broth was rich, flavorful, and well-balanced, while the noodles were cooked to perfection. Every bite was deeply satisfying without being overwhelming.
Overall, this place delivered on food, service, and atmosphere. We loved our experience and will definitely be coming back. Highly recommend...
Read moreOverall a pretty perfect experience. I had just come from the airport picking up my family and they were craving soup, so I thought it would be a good idea to stop by here. I had only ever gotten takeout from here before, so I knew the food was fairly good. Once we arrived there, you could tell the waitstaff and kitchen were tired considering we arrived 30 minutes to closing, but the service did not take a negative hit because of that, rather, we felt very welcomed and the food did not taste like it was leftover or sitting under a lamp. I had the grilled pork rice and the sushi flight and my parents had the Pearl ramen and the spicy cucumber. I think the grilled pork rice could do with more soy sauce, but I had some from my sushi flight that I just scooped in. And for $10 the sushi flight was very good. The spicy cucumber was not spicy at all which is good for those who have a more sensitive palate. The ramen I did not get a chance to try, but per the comments my parents gave it seemed like a very nice and light broth perfect for a post flight meal. The noodles were well cooked and not overdone, which is a big deal for us. Overall a very...
