On Friday 08/15/2025, I went to Mo Bettah’s (not for the first time though) for dinner.
I ordered the teriyaki chicken mini plate with white rice and macaroni. Normal right? 🤷🏾♀️
Long story short, a few hours later I started to feel very dizzy, and woozy and had to 🤮!!!! A lot of Mo Bettah’s food came out when I did that!!! 😭
Needless to say, I’m not EVER going back there! 🛑 👎
SOME of the meat on my plate was undercooked I’m thinking.
And SOME of the meat were overcooked and burnt!!! Smh!!!
Basically, I’ve speculated that I had a mixture of undercooked, and overcooked chicken on my plate! All of which on sight looked normal!!
There have been several reviews of people saying this about the quality of their meats!! Especially the chicken!!!
When my daughter and I visited Mo Bettah’s 3 weeks ago, she told me that a piece of her chicken was pink, and that she didn’t feel comfortable eating it! I brushed it off as a one time mistake.
I was wrong after reading so many reviews of the same crap!
Yeah, no more eating here for me.
Hawaiian Bros down the street ain’t no better either!!! 😂 🤢
There is however, a family owned and operated Hawaiian food place in the HEB area that’s authentic, and have delicious food AND they care greatly about QUALITY not QUANTITY!! I’m going to continue to stick with them!!! 🫡
Do better Mo Bettah’s!!! Focus more on the quality!!!! Especially with making sure that your meats are FULLY cooked, so that another customer won’t get sick or food poisoning from your undercooked...
Read moreThe service is PHENOMENAL!!! The guy at the speaker and window was very kind and happy to explain the menu and options. He knew what was in the products and I am very pleased by the quality of service I received. Now, onto the food. Qe ordered a mini plate (11$) with kastu and teriyaki chicken and double rice. My son enjoyed both items and rated the Kastu chicken a 10/10, the teriyaki was a 8/10 for him. I had the big plate (18$) with all 3 chicken types they serve. (Kastu, teriyaki, and kehula [sp?]) All the meat was high quality and quantity for good price. The Kastu was crispy and juicy and the teriyaki was flavorful and tender, the kehula was lacking in flavor but was tender and still yummy, especially with the sauces provided. The best sauce was their kastu sauce which has a little spicy kick to it and I give it 10/10. The spicy mayo was good too taste just how it sounds 9/10 quantity was a bit low for the container size though. I could not eat the teriyaki sauce due to allergies but I was informed by other family members that it was good for a pre-packaged sauce 8/10. The only thing that could have made it better is if the shreeded cabbage was cooked instead of being cold and crunchy like coleslaw (which i dont really care for), also the rice was good as expected but the macaroni salad came in second place to Ohana Hawaiian's. Overall, the entire experience was a 9/10 will definitely return when in the mood for Hawaiian style food. 😀🩵 (will remember to take pictures next time too and...
Read moreMy GF and I live up the street and received a coupon in the mail for a BOGO meal deal so we decided to give this place a try. We both ordered the teriyaki and peluah chicken with the mac salad.
Firstly I'll say I am not a huge fan of Hawaiian food. Plain white rice and macaroni with mayonnaise is just lame side options. Do people actually eat those sides or just go right for the meat and toss the rest of it? It's bland and flavorless.
The teriyaki chicken was great, it's sweet and a bit charred/crispy on the edges but also a bit juicy on the inside which IMO is perfect. The peluah chicken just tastes like chicken with salt and pepper on it, very lame. The plain white rice was cooked nice and soft/sticky, but it is still plain white rice so I didn't really eat much of it. The cabbage bed was just some chopped up raw cabbage, and the mac salad was macaroni and mayonnaise with some shredded carrots in it, pretty bland and forgettable.
We were each given one sauce and I thought the meal came with two so that was a bit disappointing, especially considering how bland the food is to begin with. One sauce was definitely not enough to dip the meat in and cover the rice.
For the price (around 13$ a meal before tax) it's worth it if you are craving sweet meat or really like Hawaiian food. We have had Hawaiian bros before and I think this place comes out slightly on top based on better meat flavor and the lower price. HBs Mac salad was...
