Denny's — Restaurant in Illinois

The food is surprisingly good. I don't mean to sound condescending. It's just that this was always the place you go to after the night was over. Never paying too much attention to the food, atmosphere, or service. You'd hang out, eat, leave. I'm glad Dennys has survived through the years. Now, I can enjoy the food and chill. The service started out a bit rocky. Then quickly had a pleasant turnaround. Then, they kind of dropped the ball towards the end. Yes, there is room for improvement, but I do see potential. They did need at least one more employee. That would have kept the ONE employee from dropping the ball. I think here, as with all restaurants, their management have no idea how to schedule. None. If they're afraid to be overstaffed, one can clean until needed. You can never clean too much in a restaurant. I would also mention that they are not handicap friendly. Sure, there is handicap parking. It really stops there. A set of double doors with no handicap opening at all. The tables are difficult to pull a wheelchair up to. Was out of town, stopped here on my way back for a bite to eat. Receiving waitress was very nice, the waitress that took our order turned out to be rude and negligent. While explaining why my son could not have under cooked sunny side eggs (they were literally clear jello with a slight white bottom.... she proceeded to have an attitude about it and say; 🙄 "that's literally how sunny side eggs "are" I'll take them back and see what if anything could be done"...(she brought the order back 20minutes later, super crispy and over cooked) Note, we had already been waiting for close to 45min for our order and no it was not busy the place was practically empty.... I also told her she got his order wrong my son asked if he could please substitute the ham for additional bacon. What she brought was raw eggs, bacon, hashbrowns, HAM, No sausage. I UNDERSTAND mistakes are made at times, but what upset me was the attitude and rude behavior of the waitress. For reference I left a tip out of courtesy to the Initial waitress, but I would not bring my business...

Went for dinner at Denny's in Bourbonnais on Tuesday September 26th, 2023. They were very short staffed, as they have been for a number of months. I usually go there about every few weeks and for the last few times I have not seen the same waiters or waitresses. However, I do love their coffee and so I decided to have coffee and order dinner. I ordered the t-bone steak and it was as hard as a rock! The steak knife wouldn't even cut through it. I had to send it back. One of the sides was mac and cheese and it looked like a bowl of melted cheese. My waiter was a young man who was obviously new and not trained properly. He didn't notice that I didn't have silverware on the table. He sat the coffee down in front of me and said can I get you anything else? I said yes a spoon please to stir the coffee. When I asked for extra napkins, it took him 10 minutes to get back to the table with them. I had to ask twice for more coffee. Not a good experience at all. I won't be going back for a while.
