Fairfield Inn Kankakee Bourbonnais — Hotel in Bradley

I read the negative reviews prior to my stay and have to say they are spot on. Hotel is super old and should be bulldozed or converted to a Motel6. I only stayed at this property as I desperately needed the Marriott points else I absolutely would have stayed at the Hampton or Hilton Garden in town as unfortunately there is not another Marriott property within 30 miles.||The BAD:|1. No one at reception desk when arriving late afternoon and after about 5 minutes I called main hotel number and it just rang phone in front of me. Luckily someone showed up shortly thereafter.|2. Room was very musty smelling.|3. You can literally look inside of room 314 as there is a big gap b/t the door and jamb. That would be icing on the cake for most to bolt out of that hotel but luckily it was not my room.|4. Breakfast area size of a large closet. Juice machine not working but sign posted you can get juice from the pantry cooler.|5. The only ice machine in enter building was inoperable.|6. Elevator not smoothest in the world and was a little worried I might get stuck so I decided to take the stairs the rest of my 3 night stay.|7. No soap at sink and inquired at reception and said they were out and to use the body wash tube fixed to shower wall.|8. Plan your showers accordingly as the water is super soft and you will spend an extra 15 min trying to scrub the soap off. Those that are used to soft-water...this may not be a problem.|9. They have 2 treadmills in fitness center but only one was operational.||The GOOD.....and reason got 2 stars instead of 1:|1. Overall quiet (probably due for it not being full) and my room faced toward the busy road but did not find it to be bothersome (very little noise) so fairly good...

We have stayed at this Fairfield for a number of years in a row for the same weekend of the year to go deer hunting. The great experience starts with the General Manager, Austin. When speaking with him on the phone to get set up for our special requests for our 2 rooms, he remembered who I was right away and was very accommodating. This gives you a feeling that you are more than just another room night on the books, it creates a personal connection. Mandie your front desk agent at check in was very friendly and welcoming on Friday. Saturday morning it rained on us in the field and we came back to the hotel drenched. Jerri, your front desk agent was wonderful, seen me saturated and helped me get my items dried. While doing so, I mentioned that I sat in the rain hunting, and she explained that her late fiancé shared the common interest. We spoke for a few minutes, and at my departure, she wished me the best of luck for the afternoon, which helped! Saturday evening, drenched again from the rain, Mandie came to the rescue and offered assistance with getting things dried! Both ladies have excellent customer service! At check out, Jerri greeted me and asked me how my stay was, and how my afternoon hunting was. I informed her that I was able to harvest a deer, and she gave me a big high five, and told me how happy she was for me! I could not have done this without the assistance of Mandie and Jerri, with the guidance from Austin, along with helping us book the rooms. This excellent customer service is the reason we stay at this hotel year after year, thanks again for making our stay...

Decent but way overpriced. Property definitely needs some updating. Pool is small but clean. Good breakfast. Clean place in general. A few issues with room upkeep. Light bulb in lamp next to bed was burnt out. Used house shampoo 1 nite; next day was replaced with an old sticky bottle of shampoo & vanity wasn't even straightened, everything was haphazardly sitting along sink, messy. Didn't want to touch that old sticky bottle of replacement shampoo! Yuck! She threw the used conditioner away but didn't throw the previously used shampoo away? It was still sitting on the tub. Housekeeping didn't empty our garbage in between nights. They didn't leave us a new ice bucket liner or any replacement cups & we had used them all. I had to chase down Housekeeping & ask for a new liner & cups. Toilet was old & hard water stained, needs replaced. Bathrooms are extremely tiny as well. You cannot sit on the toilet with the door open at all, there's no room to do so. Screen outside of our window was unsightly & broken at the bottom, needs replaced. It was decent, no major complaints, just minor ones. Extremely overpriced for the quality. I wouldn't stay here again based on that. It's not worth...
