I don't want to be that person who had a bad experience, comes to a review page and gives it a 1-star just because of that fact. I gave Ball & Biscuit a 3-star rating because, although I did not have the greatest experience, the atmosphere, music and drinks were fantastic.
However, I must admit that I walked into this place not knowing what it was all about. Consider someone walking into a fine-dining restaurant and attempting to order french fries - that was me.
When I arrived at the Ball & Biscuit, my friends and I decided that it looked like the change in pace that we were looking for. None of us had ever been there so we decided to head on in. I walked up to the bar like a rookie and attempted to order a Long Island. The bartender, Joshua, hit me with one of those stale faces and insultingly stated "Uhhh...a Long Island? We don't make those here" Again, my bad, ya know. I'm a craft beer guy. First timer here. He then stated that he would attempt to make a drink that closely resembled that flavors of a Long Island. I ordered an beer for a friend, gave Joshua a $20 bill and, instead of coming back with any change whatsoever, he must have decided that the change would suffice as his tip and never came back with any change.
Since he had already insulted my intelligence when I ordered a Long Island in this establishment, I was not going to bother to ask him for my change. He acted very "too classy" to even consider making me my requested drink as if he wasn't wearing a cheap Hollister polo.
Not going to say that I won't be back. Not going to say I'll be rushing back. However, even if a someone walks into a fine-dining restaurant and attempts to order something nontraditional, the server does not respond to you like you're a lesser. There's a certain level of professionalism that everyone deserves. I'm a Google top-reviewer, regardless whether or not I'm a cocktail...
Read moreBall & Biscuit should be defined as an upscale gastropub. I entered and was greeted with dim lighting along with a charming intimate atmosphere. Soft, dim lighting is placed strategically throughout, allowing you to unwind and immerse yourself in their offerings. A warm greeting from the bartender met me at table, showing me the cocktails and provisions offered. I ordered a beverage that was far different than what I was used to and I was struck with the full-bodied flavors - no flavor over-powered the other and made the perfect balance of a cocktail. I found this to also be the case for two other cocktails I tried. When I read the menu of this restaurant, I was not expecting anything above a sub-par quality, but I was completely wrong. I received my entree and, just like the cocktails, the portions and flavors balanced perfectly. I felt satisfied. Although uncommon for me, I chose to order the bread pudding with rum. It was a great choice and was a perfect ending to my experience. Although I was visiting the area, I would love to revisit Ball &...
Read moreFirst off, let me just say that the bar staff here are so friendly truly made my experience here memorable. I had just left the bar nowhere special before I walked into this establishment, which where I had an awful experience at, and I decided to try The ball & biscuit and I’m so glad that I did. The cocktail menu they have available here was amazing but I’m a pretty picky person when it comes to my taste preferences in craft cocktails. I expressed my preferences to Casey the bartender and her and Ryan both worked together in coming up with a delicious cocktail to fit what I wanted. I was extremely impressed with the cocktail they made for me based off of me just stating that I loved egg whites and gin. My cocktail was delicious, they had created a grapefruit gin fiz for me and the presentation of the cocktail was amazing. The bar staff and Todd also gave me some wonderful suggestions as to other places I could visit as a tourist in this city which was super helpful. I hope to visit this place soon with friends. Thank you for this...
