My family and I have been fans of Bazbeaux for over a decade, and having moved out of state several years ago, I was excited to enjoy it again on a trip to visit family; unfortunately, our experience was very negative - I do not expect to patronize this restaurant again, nor will be recommending it to others. We arrived to the downtown location at 6pm on a Thursday with a party of four. The host acted surprised to have customers (though the dining room was nearly full), but asked us to wait and a short minute later we were seated. We sat for ten minutes without being greeted. We didn't really mind the delay as we were perusing the menu and deciding on beers. Once we had decided on drinks and entrees with no server yet coming by, I walked from our table to the end of the bar and stood politely, waiting to be acknowledged by the bartender. After he finished with his customer, I said, "Excuse me," but he completely ignored me, moving on to another guest. I stood there for five more minutes, interjecting twice more, "Excuse me, sir," but was ignored. I then asked a person who had been bussing tables if they could please find out who our server is and ask them to come by, as we had been waiting ten minutes. She looked confused, said she would "see what she could do," and headed to the back. As I was returning to my table, another member of my party noticed the host seating another table and politely asked how long we should expect to wait for our server, as we had been waiting ten minutes (it was closer to fifteen at this point, but they were being generous). The host was very condescending, saying, "Well, we're obviously busy; they'll be there when they get there." We waited another five minutes before the bartender came over to take our order. I told him we would be leaving as we had been ignored for twenty minutes; he acted surprised that we felt ignored, and stated it was not his section (never mind the fact he ignored me when I tried to speak to him at the bar). When we left, there were tables seated before we arrived still waiting to be greeted. I recommend not wasting your time visiting this poorly...
Read moreI have only ever stopped in during the lunch hour and never had a problem with service. This time, I stopped in after work on a Friday evening. There were a few customers seated, but there were plenty of open tables, and it was not busy at all. Still, it took a while for someone to attend to me at the counter. The guy who finally came seemed aloof. I learned that slices of pizza were not offered at dinner, which was fine. I was never asked if I wanted to dine-in or carryout, so I proceeded to order with the assumption I had to carry out. After ordering and just before paying, I was told it would take 30 to 45 min. because they were expecting to get busy/a rush soon. I then asked if I could just dine-in because it made more sense to me than to wait 30-45 min. And then another 30 min. to drive home. I didn't have lunch and was pretty hungry. He paused for a second and then said he could not switch it because it would not be fair to others for me to switch to dine-in to get my order sooner. I am not sure what he was thinking, but it was my intention to actually dine in! I assume he misunderstood, so I just told him it was okay, paid, and waited. No one called my name, came to get me, or otherwise advised me when my order was ready, I eventually went to the counter to ask about my order after a very long wait. When I got to the car, I saw that the creamy basil dressing I ordered was not in the sealed bag. Instead, there was a container of fresh cut basil. I am not sure what went wrong there, but Bazbeaux seems to have a less efficient/customer focused approach in the evenings. Simply taking the time out to listen and service customers in the beginning saves a lot of time and...
Read moreWe regretted trying this resto. We were visiting indy last week and wanted to have local best voted restaurants. This pizza place showed up.
First highlight and the most important. Sunday evening we sat and the waiter who serve us look down on us with his face and attitude. At first i thought because he was in bad mood, then i saw him walking with cheerful face and happy body language and BOOM when my husband called him, his face looked so annoyed to serve us. And he passed by again to serve people behind us, i raised my hand asking some help, he just straight ignored us! I am an international traveler and NEVER been treated like trash right in front of my eyes in any restaurants around the world but this one. We just left cannot handle his attitude. Not sure is it because he is racist?
The following lunch, they have different arrangement where everyone order at the counter. This one is WAY better, the server at the counter is also the one cleaning the table. They are way nice and attentive. Conclusion: the resto itself is not racist but certain server might need to get some training.
The food itself - this resto is NOT serving ITALIAN pizza. It is more American pizza that tend to be over crowded everything and sorry to say taste a bit hard for me to finish it. This is just a food preference. If you are looking for italian pizza, this is not the place.
Will never come back...
