PanIQ Escape Room Indy — Attraction in Indianapolis

We did The Haunted Manor room on Saturday, 3/9/24. Literally the only thing we didn’t like was that it was sometimes difficult to hear our guide when we asked for hints. I feel there was MAYBE something wrong with the speakers because we had just done the Stranded In Space room on Wednesday, 3/6/24 and had zero difficulty hearing over those speakers. We also had difficulty hearing some of the story over the speakers BUT it could have just been our older age. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Other than that, BOTH ROOMS WERE PHENOMENAL! Props are CLEAN & in great shape. Rooms were in great shape. Story lines were well thought out. STAFF IS PHENOMENAL! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The rooms ARE darker & we did have to use the flashlight on our phone to read some stuff but then again, I’m 50 & my husband is 60. 😂 They did end up bringing us one of those small flashlights that fits in your palm and that was very helpful. 🥰 I would definitely say we loved it! Our guide/host for Saturday evening , Jace, was amazing. He did a great job explaining everything and was helpful. He also takes great group pictures. 😂 We don’t remember our guide/hosts name for 3/6/24 but she was equally as pleasant & amazing. We really liked that the guides were willing to take a group picture for us. There was also this fun chair in the lobby I made sure to take a picture in because I’m a big weirdo. 😂 There is water in the lobby you can purchase for $2 which is nice. SUPER IMPORTANT to arrive 15 minutes BEFORE your appointment so you can fill out waivers for each person in your group and also to get your instructions. Nice, clean restrooms. Low lighting in lobby was great for “ambiance lighting”.

Lastly, when you get to the building, you will notice the doors are locked. Make sure you read the paper on the door because it will instruct you to call a number for them to come out and let you in. 🥰

We showed up 30 minutes prior to our scheduled time. The place was dark and the doors were locked. There was a sign on the door saying if nobody is there and the door is locked, to call their number. We called and heard the phone ring on the inside. Nobody was there.The call went to their automated phone menu. We left a message. There was also an email address to send an email. We did that. We waited and waited and were about to leave when when a frantic employee showed up apologizing for being late. It was about 30 minutes past our scheduled arrival time. He let us into the lobby and had us wait until he set up the room. So after about 45 minutes past our scheduled 'show up' time, we were finally led to our escape room. Everything seemed rushed. The room itself was ok. There was not alot of 'one thing leads to another with the puzzles. It was just several stations where we had to solved a game. Once done, we moved to the next station. When all the stations were solved, the game was over. It was a very unpleasant experience. Our experience was tainted by a late arriving employee and a rushed game set up. Fun story, high quality sets/props. Clues were easy to follow and we could feel the story progressing as we completed things. Nice ambiance with good moody and appropriate lighting. We could always read what we needed to without difficulty.

We loved several of the puzzle components which required more movement, taking some small typically handheld puzzles and making them giant.

Clues were unlimited and we used a few. They were more like nudges, which is how we prefer them. For one element we weren't picking up on what it wanted from us, requiring a second hint which cleared it up.

A few things seemed to trigger either on their own, or without us knowing we had completed the task, like drawers popping open. Perhaps they were delayed or we just missed what triggered them. It didn't detract from our enjoyment, just a bit curious.

One later puzzle we were able to figure out, but not the way it was intended. When we asked how we were "supposed" to do it, we got a real laugh because we had made it much more difficult.
