Very disappointed over a generally great place. This afternoon, my family agreed to celebrate a return to campus (for our college students) by sharing a dinner at one of our favorite restaurants. Unfortunately, the experience went downhill almost immediately upon our arrival. We were initially seated, but then left unattended for at least 10 minutes. A server nearby noticed and approached us, apologizing and stating that he would get somebody out to help us ASAP. Good! We were satisfied with that! Our server arrived shortly thereafter and took our order. We waited quite sometime and was approached by a different server who was caring three separate dinner plates, spilling some of the contents on the floor while complaining about the orders she was bringing. With disdain she asked, "Who ordered the Prime Rib?" To which we replied, nobody. She was already assuming a condescending posture and tone and then stated impatiently, "C'mon! Does anybody recognize any of this? This stuff is heavy and I need to know who ordered it?" Well everyone at the table shook their heads as no one knew who ordered it. No one at our table had ordered it. She then said, "C'mon, this is hurting my hand! Do any of you recognize this?" Well, we had already indicated that we did not order it and I then asserted that I had ordered the Ribeye on special, not Prime Rib. Everyone at the table then realized that there must have been a mix up, as if the waiter had written prime rib instead of ribeye, or the chef/cook misread the ticket, etc. No big deal. These things happen. However, you would of thought we just told this server that we thought her family was ugly. She stomped away huffing and puffing. We then asked our server if we could speak to the manager.
Sadly, our manager responded in an even more immature manner. As I was trying to explain the situation to the manager, he said, "I know, I know, we are fixing your order right now..." Okay, again, no big deal and I said "fine, but the problem was how the server acted when she brought out the meals and the incorrect meal. Insinuating/Accusing us of lying about our orders and that it greatly offended everyone in our party. I said it was b* sh! And was unacceptable. He then proceeded to tell me that I was disrespectful and out of line for cursing at him and that I had a choice in coming to the restaurant. I tried to explain to him that I was not cursing at him, but used an expletive to convey my frustration over the situation and that he was being inappropriate. I did not call him or his staff any names - curse words or any sort of verbal abuse. He continued to lecture me about being disrespectful and did not apologize once for any of the errors in their service. My family was so disgusted by his actions (he claims that he is a manager and his name is Adam Sleezy (it kind of fits him as he was incredibly rude and dishonest) that we immediately paid, had our meals boxed and left the premises.
We have frequented this restaurant for nearly 30 years. No apology, no mention of being sorry. Nothing but ugliness and a absurd display drama. WE WILL...
Read moreWe typically order food from Charleston's and usually it's a 5 star. But last night's order (7/14/22) was a totally different experience. We ordered a catfish platter, baby back ribs dinner and 12 oz prime rib dinner and we had issues with each Item. The catfish batter was too too salty. The baby back ribs are typically fall off the bone and tender but my ribs this time was overcooked: tips were hard and the skin was crunchy which you can taste the charcoal flavor on the skin itself. The sweet glazed carrots are usually sweet but my sweet glazed carrots were were not sweet and taste like they've been soaked in water with no flavor. And for my baked potato I requested butter only with extra butter and I received butter and sour cream together in the container. My wife's prime rib was ordered as medium rare but was not tender: it was rubbery and the juice for the prime rib was too salty. My wife's sweet glazed carrots was also similar to mine with no flavor, soaked in juice but not sweet. The only item that was similar to taste from precious visits were the order of two baskets of crescent rolls. I picked up my order at about 8 o'clock and by the time I got home and everyone checked their order and began to start eating their food the store had already closed. So I called the store on 7/16/2022 to speak to the manager (Kara or Cara) to let them know what our experience was the night before. The only response I received was sorry for your experience, If you were to have brought your order back to us last night I could have replaced it. Kara also mentioned that my complaint was the 1st complaint she received last night. That was it!!!
I guess I have to start going to the...
Read moreWe had made reservations in person a week prior for a specific table at 5:00 and a specific waitress. We had requested a large round table because we had a party of eight. When we arrived, they were not going to give us that table and when they did, we were informed that we had to be done by 7:00. When we were seated, it was not the waitress we had requested. This waitress was OK until it was time for the bills. Even though she confirmed who was with whom, when she returned with the bills 15 minutes later, they were wrong. She wrote out the orders again, by couple, and added all drinks and said she'd be right back. During the 15 minutes it took her to return, a couple of restaurant staff walked by the table and looked at their watches. When she returned we all gave our credit cards and one member of our group asked if they gave a military discount. She said they did and asked for his ID and said she would adjust his bill. After another 15 minutes, and a few more looks from staff, a member of our group went to the front to let them know we had been waiting for over half an hour for our bills. When the bills were finally brought back, the one who had asked for a military discount, was $5 MORE ! We were pretty irritated by now, and just paid and left. On the way out, we overheard a staff member say, "Yes, they finally left." We would have been gone a good half hour earlier if the waitress had gotten the bills correct. We have enjoyed eating here in the past, at least once a month, but this visit will cause us to rethink...
