Red Robin Gourmet Burgers and Brews — Restaurant in Indianapolis

My boyfriend and I came here for his birthday. He wanted onion rings and wanted to go here since he's had them before and enjoyed them. Unfortunately, our experience was not pleasant whatsoever, this establishment needs improvement in a lot of fields. The service was very lacking and so was management. We got sat down immediately, which was great. Our server got to us in less than 5 minutes after we sat down. We ordered the tower of onion rings with our drink orders. She was good with getting drinks to our table, when she brought those we went ahead and ordered the rest of our meal. There was two servers on the side we were sat and our server was unattentive after getting our order in. We got burgers and she doesn't even ask how we want our burgers done. We couldn't even get her attention to add how we want them cooked. No eye contact was made from this woman, she wouldn't even look our way. As we wait , the manager was sitting more tables down in our area. We noticed after waiting 20 minutes already AFTER ordering our entrees, we still have not received our onion rings. Three tables sat down after us and some were still looking at menus and they had received their onion rings. This is ridiculous, not only was our table being ignored by service, we even called over management and he wanted to tell us that we hadn't waited that long. We know what time we had came in for dinner and the fact that he wanted to argue back, not a good look for your business, sir you were hosting in the front, not your job to attend to tables, that's the servers job so to tell us we weren't waiting long is an overstep in your department that night. After talking to management, 2 minutes after , we finally receive our onion rings , 5 minutes after that our entrees. So disappointing with service, management, and now with the quality of food made from the kitchen. The tower of onion rings you can tell two different portions were cooked at completely different times and they all end up overcooked. They gave us extra rings which we never asked for and we didn't even end up eating it with how disappointing our experience was already. Our entrees, we can tell it was not fresh , it was sitting for a while after being made, we can tell because not only the plate was heated up (definitely microwaved) the cheese you can always tell by the texture, it was dried up. The fries...not even seasoned, tastes like store bag fries. For being my first time here , I am not impressed, we will not be...

I would not recommend based upon my experience. The first issue I had was the hostess wanted to seat my wife and I at a small table for two. When I asked to be seated at a booth for more room I was told that they had to "cycle" the tables so I couldn't have a booth. I said what about the empty table for four? She reluctantly said OK. We then waited ten minutes for a waitress to come by and tell us she would be back in a minute. Ten minutes later she came and took drink order. Another person brought my wife's draft beer but nothing for me. After a while the person came back with my beer. After another wait the waitress showed up and instead of taking our order insisted on talking our arms off about the weather and her kids/grandkids. When she finally finished and started to take our order half way thru she stopped to talk to people at another table. She had a hand held device for taking order which she obviously was not trained on. She kept having to stop and retry to enter the orders. Eventually she took our order and then we waited 20 minutes for our food. The order came and as I feared my order was wrong. So I waited for her to come back and when she didn't I tracked her down and told her my order was incorrect. She took it back and then as my wife ate and finished her meal my meal finally showed up. So then my wife waited as I finished my meal. The restaurant was not crowded so I was puzzled as to the slow service. While the waitress was a nice person she was way to talkative. The food was marginal and while they advertise "bottomless French fries" at the end of our meals the waitress grabbed our plates and never asked if we wanted any more fries or dessert. With all of the restaurants close by I wouldn't think of this...

Normally I would give 4/5 stars because our family really love Red Robin. However, tonight was another story. We had previously went to this location, because it is the ONLY 1 we go to and the food never came out the way it was supposed to. The manager that evening was very apologetic and tried his best to make the situation better. He said when we came back to ask for him. Well, we went tonight, found out later he wasn't there. However, Dave was there, came out and said we were asking for a discount. He was then told what was told us. We apparently had the wrong name, our loss. He said "are you sure you came to this location?" What???? We are not ignorant or stupid, we do know where we eat. I was done at that point and said to him never mind it wasn't you so you don't have to do anything. Begrudgingly, he took $2 off the bill. I didn't want his discount or anything else from him. He was not kind, acted like we wanted something for free... we already had free birthday burgers....

Waitress was okay and the food was okay. Not the best we have had, but okay.

He ruined our experience, tried to make us feel like we just wanted something free, and can't remember anything. Dave, if you are ever managing when I come there, I will turn around and leave. Your attitude was funky and you didn't care. I am sure you don't care if we ever come back or about this review. If you did, you would have come back to the table and said the discount you were giving like a normal, half caring manager. I pray you are better and treat others better than you did us 3 tonight. I am asking God to bless you in your attitude and give you...
