KING’S BAKERY — Restaurant in Indianapolis

The absolute worst experience ever with this bakery. What seemed like a great opportunity to support a local bakery has quickly turned into a disaster of events for my family. My husband and I were gifted a cake by my aunt for our wedding celebration to be served as a way to commemorate our vows exchanged at the courthouse. My husband , aunt and I all went to the bakery to discuss the cake style, taste and cost. A simple heart shaped vintage looking, almond flavored cake with inside layers of chocolate ganache and 4 little gold butterflies to memorialize our lost loved one’s was ordered as well as 6 smores cupcakes. Pictures were included. The days leading up to the cake pickup had minimal communication with phone calls and voicemails going unanswered. The day of pickup the bakery smell was rancid like sewage smell, the owner dropped a cupcake (that in all fairness were tasty) but nonetheless tried to rectify by increasing the cake size which we really didn’t need but okay. The cake oh the cake!!! It was not the style that I decided on and the lettering was the saddest thing ever. No butterflies appeared on or with the cake on pickup day despite a 15.00 up charge. . The cake was not almond flavored (another up charge), no chocolate ganache (you got it another up charge). The cake was an average cake nothing special in flavor in the end and nothing at all to be expected after shelling out almost 100.00 for a cake. Then my aunt stops in to fairly ask for a refund for the items that were not provided and the owner has the audacity to tell her that she is out of luck and is definitely not getting a refund. So fraudulent!! You agreed on a product and didn’t deliver. The saddest part of all this is that such a kind gesture on my aunts part is tainted by someone who didn’t simply fulfill their obligation as the baker for an important moment. I will never recommend this place to anyone...

We paid 100.00 for a wedding cake. We were charged 15.00 dollars each for almond flavored cake, butterflies on the cake, chocolate filling in the cake. We received a vanilla cake with candy letters. The owner was not very nice and when we tried calling she never returned our text or calls. I finally just drove up there right before closing and she was still working on the cake.because of rain was I waited for awhile but the sewer smell that day, maybe because of rain was terrible. So I stepped out for a few minutes and after going back in I noticed there were only five not six chocolate cupcakes which we had also paid for. She said well I dropped one so I made your cake larger. Felt as though she should have discussed this as I would have told her not to make the cake larger. Getting home and opening the box to see candy letters saying just married was not what we discussed but we just let it go. After cutting the cake to find it was vanilla and had no butterflies or chocolate filling we were very disappointed. The cake was ok but nothing special. The next day I as for my money back just for the three things she did not provide and she was very rude. Basically said sue me. So that’s what I am going to do. Do...

I honestly don't know how this place stays in business nor how the reviews are rated so high. I have frequented this bakery several times. Customer service is not the best. They never have the food that I want. I go in looking for the shrimp and grits, which are very tasty, but they either never have them that particular day (despite being on the menu), the cook happens not to be there so they can't make them, or the wait is ridiculously long. On one particular Saturday, I called and ask if they have shrimp and grits this day. The girl who answers is rude, tells me they have them everyday (lie), but they are busy so I need to come into the bakery "and see if they have time to get to me." Now what sense does that make? I'm going to drive out of my way "to see if they have time to get to me."
