I visited Mori Sushi today for an early dinner and I was quite pleased with the service I received! The restaurant was clean and had beautiful lighting. The tables were adequately set apart for social distancing and the staff were friendly and attentive. Below you'll find my detailed opinion on the different dishes I tried there. Overall, I think the pricing was extremely reasonable and everything was delicious. Vegetable Gyoza (vegan) $5.25 The vegetable gyoza came in a green dumpling and was perfectly crispy. The texture of the filling was great and the veggie flavor paired well with the sweet chili sauce. Avocado Salad $3.50 The avocado was rich without being overpowering and the ginger in the dressing provided the perfect bite to cut through the richness. The salad was crisp and cool. Fujiyama Roll $15.95 The roll was fresh and perfect temperature. Rice was still creamy and the eel came through at the end. The crab with spicy mayo was great by itself or directly as a topping on each roll. Cheesecake $3.50 Sadly the cheesecake was missing the berries pictured on the menu, but there was a swirl or strawberry going through the slice. I believe it's a store bought cheesecake as opposed to made in house, but the price was very reasonable considering that. It was still a yummy slice of cheesecake, if a bit cold in the center. I would give the restaurant 4/5 stars because everything was good! I wholeheartedly reccomend it to anyone in Indianapolis who's craving sushi, because they have a WIDE selection of dishes!

The competition for top sushi places in downtown in Indianapolis is not exactly fierce, but Mori does as good a job with classic and creative dishes as any American-style sushi joint can be reasonably expected to do. The edomae maki and nigiri are respectable when it comes to crowd favorites (tuna, hamachi, salmon) but I was baffled by some of the cut or garnish choices with the less frequently ordered items (ex. too much skin/scales on the madai, spicy mayo & scallion on both shiromi [white fish] nigiri). The specialty rolls were enjoyable enough (often neat ideas, though the execution can be lacking) but the yakisoba, drowning in sauce and without a hint of the smokiness from a properly hot wok, was a hard miss for me. It's a mixed bag but one to which we have returned and will probably continue to frequent when the sushi craving strikes between out-of-town forays.

This is a mixed review, because we had amazing sushi, but horrible hibachi.

Sushi: We had the Godzilla and vampire signatures sushis, they were fresh and delicious. 5 stars

Hibachi: We ordered the combo and the chicken hibachi. 0 stars here, the shrimp smelled bad, as spoiled bad, the beef was cold inside, as if they used frozen beef or reheated the plate from the fridge. The chicken was dry, only the fried rice was okay. We complained about the meat and the bad smell of the shrimp and returned both hibachis. The server let the boss know and then apologized mentioning a new chef was planned for the future, but they still charged in full for 2 plates we did not eat (about $50 for both hibachies, plus $70 in sushi that were worth it).

My overall rating is one star because of borderline spoiled shrimp in my hibachi, this is my first time experiencing such a thing in a Japanese restaurant.

If you want to come to this place, come for the sushi, but I would avoid the hibachi...

She said Not really I will never return again after hearing this. A delivery driver delivering your food to help Your business and can’t use the restroom and then you tell her we can’t use it “ Not Really” the exact words.
