Loved staying at the Hyatt place downtown! It’s right across the street from gainbridge field house and the perfect location when you head to town for games and concerts!! #indianapolis #hyatt

The young lady who checked us in (with hair dyed red, if that helps the management) on August 10 was way less than enthusiastic. In fact, she kept mumbling in a soft voice so that we had to repeatedly ask her to speak up. She acted as though it was a huge chore for her to deal with us and we were a bother. There was also fairly loud music in the lobby, which didn’t help. My husband verified that we’d have a king bed and a pullout bed, which was what we’d reserved. She informed us we’d have 2 queens. There were no apologies and no attempt to make the situation better. This is just bad business! My husband and I had to be firm. My husband asked how that could be since we had RESERVED a king room. Eventually, she comped our parking and gave us a $100 voucher for the restaurant. Our room was clean and tidy. However, one window looked at a wall and the other looked into the parking garage. If anyone in the garage chose to look our way, they could see us in our room. Zero privacy unless you kept the blind closed, which made the room quite dark. See the attached photos for our views. Yes, they only clean the rooms every 3 days, not what I expect from Hyatt. We were told that they could deliver towels and toilet paper up to our room. Those things never came. We had to grab them off the maid’s cart in our hallway. The breakfast was quite good. I just wish we had been told about it at check in. We missed the first day. The restaurant had excellent food and the service there was fantastic.

My husband and I came here to see the total solar eclipse on April 8, checked in a day early. To start out with we were given the wrong room even though we had booked a king with a view, through Expedia and were given a double bed with no view. So we had to go all the way back to the front desk, and get the new keys for the new room. The clerk working on April 7th around 2 pm could use a refresher on friendliness, and maybe hire some more staff because she also looked stressed. Especially with a bunch of people checking in for such a major event, you guys need to have back up. And on top of it it sounds like we are being charged twice for a room that we prepaid for a month in advance (my husband is on the phone with you all right now). It sounds like it’s being fixed but still. The bed was comfortable except for the pillows, they were very thin. The parking is a bit convoluted. Was not a fan of the way it’s set up. Did not like the pool, it was freezing. And there was a dirty used bandaid on the floor of the pool. Disgusting! Lack of a hot tub was really disappointing. Did not check out the restaurants, we opted to go outside the property. The fitness center was great! Nice to get a workout in before the solar eclipse. Best thing this property has going for it is location and comfortability of the rooms. Also, I will say on the 12th floor, with such a major event it was very, very quiet. Could not hear anyone or anything.

Where to start...On September 11th A group of 6 of us came to watch a Fever game. It was a Wednesday night. We are middle aged families. We were looking forward to spending time together in a middle of a week with friends after watching our Iowan Caitlin Clark. After the game we decided we would have some food and drinks at Pivot the restaurant/bar in the hotel. There of course were several others that did the same. We are NOT a needy table. Our family has been in the service industry for many decades and understand these kind of nights! However before our butts could even sit in a chair one of the servers started having sarcastic needless words with one of our members of our group about how he was moving his chair. Quite honestly being very mouthy. She was not even our server. Our server came and took our order and did quite well for as busy as she was. She kept checking in on us periodically and we felt she handled her self very well all night. From the time the game was over until they closed was approximately only 2 hours.

My 11 year old son came and joined us at the end of the table, we pulled up a chair for him. He was given a soda by our server. The next thing we know the mouthy server comes back by speaking words to him. An 11 year old. Are you kidding me? He was not in the way, couldnt be further away from any traffic, hostess station, door they walk in and out of, ect. Totally unacceptable!!! This girl must just be overwhelmed or not a people person. Regardless very rude. We decide to take it up with the manager as a member of our group is a Hyatt Member and they texted us during our stay. The manager met with them at the front desk and apologized and assured us this would be addressed. To apologize they had the kitchen send us out some dessert, which they did NOT need to do!!!

As we went to close out our bill. Our server brings us the bill, and the desserts were on there and we were charged for the desserts. I understand them having to ring them in, (again we are in the service industry) but come on... we didnt ask for them. So we nicely asked to have that taken off of our bill. Which they did. We paid our server leaving her a 30% tip and went on our way. Still disqusted by the other staff member and how she thinks she can treat people, but the night was over. We were going home in the morning.

The next day as we were driving home we were going over the receipt from Pivot. Our server had charged us our first drink as a Jack/Pepsi which was correct. All the next drinks she charged us for a Jack and then for a Pepsi. Essentially an additional soda charge each and every round for every drink. We probably shouldve caught it that night, but we were so flustered with how we had been treated and then getting charged for the desserts, we didnt even think our drink charges would be wrong. So it leads us to question... Since our server rang our first drink in correctly the first time and then didnt each subsequent time, is she padding our bill??? We left her 30% tip of a padded bill. We called the bar right away. It was a joke trying to get ahold of anyone. We were treated very rudely by anyone and everyone who would answer the phone. We left messages that were unreturned and had to keep calling. Once we finally were able to make contact with Christopher the Food and Beverage Director he assured us this would be taken care of he saw the descrepancy , we would be getting a credit back and said all the correct things, for which we were so thankful.

So if you have read this far you are probably wondering why I'm still typing. Everying was fixed, right? Wrong. Here we are a month later. Still no credit. We have called Christopher and not received a call back. So sad. We loved the location of this hotel, we loved the city and hope to return. We'll just walk to ANY other food/bar next time. You should do yourself a favor and do the same!

*Lets not forget they charged us for valet parking we...

I stayed here recently with friends for our first North American Youth Congress (NAYC25). Many other guests who stayed were also attending the same event. Firstly, I'll start with some positives. They were able to provide us with connecting rooms, they are a very conveniently placed property close to many restaurants, and about a 10-15 minute walk from Lucas Oil Stadium, where the event was held. Admittedly, walking into a very air-conditioned lobby after walking in the hot Indiana sun and humidity was incredible to say the least. Although the market was small, it was conveniently open 24/7 and had some of my favourite American snacks and drinks available for purchase, which was greatly appreciated. The guestroom bathroom was also very nice and spacious.

Now, onto the not-so-positive aspects. The room, although it can accommodate 3 guests (I had booked 2 x 1 king bed with sofa bed rooms), there is not enough floor or closet space to accommodate 3 medium-sized suitcases. The doors to both rooms were very difficult to open, and we often had to ram our bodies to open the door. The connecting doors also did not work in one of the rooms, and we had to jerk the handles, which was a lot of effort. We ended up just giving up as we did not want to escalate this issue. I had 4 friends with me, 1 in my room and 3 staying in the 2nd room. The friend who planned to utilize the sofa bed called reception to request extra linen as per the instructions (as there were only top sheets and an extra pillow in the room). We are from Australia, so we use the terminology "Duvet" or "Doona" when describing a Comforter, and as we are aware of that, my friend requested a comforter. I believe there wasn't an accent barrier as she made her request very clear using American terminology, but she said the receptionist just laughed and said they ran out of comforters but could offer towels instead. This made me upset to hear, and I understand it may have been fully booked that day, but offering towels to replace the lack of a comforter is a bit ridiculous. Later, the issue was resolved by housekeeping. We also had an issue with our DoorDash order, the dasher claims to have delivered our Wingstop order to the reception but reception said they did not receive anything (I understand it is out of their control).

I hope if we come back to stay that we will have a...

First visit to this hotel. The hotel location was fantastic! The low review is based on organization and bed comfort . From the first time I called a front desk till I arrived information was incorrect! Booking I was told breakfast was included with my purchase of room . This was confirmed 2 times . Also I was told to follow address for hotel for parking garage . Was told garage is same address as Hotel so after seeing a garage right next door and circling it 3 times I finally parked out front and went to ask . Wrong info I was told . Even better same gentleman that told me breakfast was included told me to park In garage and after check in to tell front desk for parking reimbursement since Included with room . Wrong again! After I asked desk they told me I paid for “Valet” to call them and they would move my car to the appropriate area .

After already parked decided to just leave it be.

Asked a quick question to valet on way out to explore and they told me I should of gotten a voucher from front desk ! Wrong again ! He apologized and gave me one ! Check in was fine but that after not having breakfast explained and staff said I didn’t qualify for it ! I said it was told to me it was included with my stay and confirmed and they eventually just said ok and said they give to me . Why so bad on communication???

After arriving to room 633 the hallway right in front of my room had spilled garage . Q-tip and some trash right in front of the door didn’t exactly scream welcome !!!!

Room itself was fine . However my last issue was the bed itself ! When front desk asked if I had to have two queens maybe I should of taken the hint . The bed mattress was one of the worst I have ever slept on. It is worn and has pockets so your Body sinks . Very uncomfortable and I slept horrible ! So overall the location was great but this visit just seemed doomed from the start ! Probably would consider again but hopefully beds are better in...
