So I have driven by this place countless times. Today out of all days with a pouring rain and bike getting fixed, I stumbled into this brewery. Different from Copp Winery, this is a full blown brewery that has a sampler tasting, where you can choose 4 out of 12 beers and 3 wines. I chose All Caught up, By the Fire, Withlacoochee Trail Ale, and QB-Barb. Every since Covid started, I have been diving into the world of beer. I may make a career of going around tasting new beers, and never used to drink beer at all. After visiting Nine State Brewery, I will give my ratings on the bases of flavor, location, and decor. First is flavor. All caught up is a New England style dipa with aroma and flavor of fresh pineapple and coconut. It delivers on what it describes and so far is raining in at the top spot at 10/10. Absolutely crisp, fresh, sweet, delicious. Tastes as good as miller high life with a splash of fresh pineapple and a faint coconut taste. Absolutely delicious. By The Fire is an American stout with a vanilla aroma that leads to an upfront roasted malt flavor, with a smooth vanilla finish. It is darker amongst the rest and looks identical to a Guinness Stout. The smell has a nice vanilla, oaky smell. It almost has a vanilla, chocolate milk finish and as a stout, I would rate it as a 8/10. I am not a stout drinker, but if you put this in front of me and didn’t tell me what it was, I would like immediately say Guinness, but with a new flavor twist, or addition. Withlachoochee Trail Ale is an ale brewed with blueberries from Cavallo farm and market. It rates in as a 4/10 and didn’t get any notes of blueberry. It tasted like Corona extra, with a very very faint sweetness, minus the lime. Now for the most interesting of the pack. QB-Barb. This is an easy drinking blonde ale, brewed with our house bbq rub. Light, refreshing, and pairs well with food. This came in as a 4/10. It was lacking the bbq punch I was expecting in regards to smokiness, but wasn’t the worst beer I had tasted. If I paired these with wings, I would expect the beer to add a little hit of smokiness, but with how faint it is, they should up it up with smokiness, to add to a unique, odd, beer flavor. As of now, it is week on bbq flavor, but has a subtle taste that lingers on in the background. Which makes the winner All Caught Up the most delicious rated beer out of my sampler. It reminds me of living in Florida with the palm trees on a scorching hot day. It has a reward type of feel after working hard at the house and treating yourself to a tropical beer. According to the owner of master brewer, there is no fruit in this beer, it comes just from the hops. Amazing! The decor is ok, with the pictures I provided. Black tables, brewery pots, and board games. It would be cool to see down the road, cans to purchase like that of swamphead in Gainseville, just not at the ridiculous price swamphead offers, plus offer a club to join to recommend new flavors to let the brew master come up with due to club members requests. Also maybe a side tour and store to buy shirts and hats. If all of this was implemented, it would be an easy tour destination if visiting citrus county. Copp winery doesn’t t do this, and if nine state does this, it could easily be the best brewery in citrus county. Definitely recommend checking this out from a 26 year olds perspective, who just came in for a good tasting beer. Maybe get some live music like a bluegrass or drinking music band and some game nights like Drunk Trivia, lots of...
Read moreStopped Saturday evening to get a Growler of beer, my first time there. The lady behind the bar had trouble with the equipment used to fill growlers which took time, I had friends waiting in the car. She gave up & went over to the regular tap & filled my growler with beer. $40 for 1 Growler full. Then the 'fun' began I gave her my Bank of America Visa & their computer system was fouled up & locked in a loop, she kept waiting & waiting. So I gave her a different Visa from the Credit Union, SAME THING, round & round. I didn't have $40 Cash. I reminded her I had people waiting in the car, & couldn't wait any longer, then another Oriental Lady got involved, & abruptly said to me "You can't leave here with that until you pay! That meant to me they were keeping my growler until I came back & paid. I told them I had to leave, dump the beer & give me my growler. Finally they did just that, dumped the contents into another container, gave me my growler & I left! Will NEVER...
Read moreHard to pick where to start. I suppose beer is the most fair due to the brewery aspect. They are completely on point with their beer styles. The hefeweizen has a delicious taste of banana and the schwarzbier is, well, schwarzbiery. The food is a great variety of seasoning levels. If you want spicy, they've got it covered. I went medium and it delivered a nice building heat that didn't become overbearing but you knew was there. Atmosphere is on another level. The jazz/blues vibe is a great feel for it and they don't drown you out with it despite it being audible enough to enjoy. Should definitely check this place out if you're in the area. I know I'll...
