(Bugs in our soy sauce) Last night, my girlfriend and I visited this location. She has always enjoyed this restaurant and was excited to bring me here for the first time, especially because this location is new. We were both looking forward to a good night out.
When we arrived, everything seemed fine. We ordered a variety of sushi, and my girlfriend specifically requested gluten-free soy sauce. About halfway through our meal, she noticed something off about the soy sauce. When she looked closer, we were shocked to find not one or two, but dozens of dead gnats and small bugs settled at the bottom of the soy sauce bowls.
I tried to keep her calm because she was close to getting sick, and I didn’t want to make a scene or blame our waitress directly. I quietly pulled our waitress aside and told her what we found. She apologized, took the bowls immediately before we could take a photo, and brought back new ones. After that, nothing else was addressed. We sat there for 15–20 minutes waiting for someone, a manager, supervisor, anyone, to acknowledge the situation, especially since we could no longer eat the rest of our food. We had no idea what else might have been contaminated, so we refused to continue eating.
Throughout this time, we saw the waitress whispering to other staff, but no one came to speak to us. Eventually, after my girlfriend became visibly upset, our waitress came back and offered a 15–20% discount. That was the entire extent of the response. No manager, no explanation, no concern. We ended up paying essentially full price for a meal we couldn’t eat and leaving to find food elsewhere. ( I want to be clear: ) I’m not looking for free handouts, nor was I expecting something unreasonable. What bothered us most was the lack of accountability, communication, and seriousness toward what is clearly a health and safety issue. Unfortunately, after this experience, we won’t return to this location. Im sure the food is great but My hope is that this review helps the restaurant improve how situations like this are handled and the seriousness of it...
Read moreThis is the former location of Blue Fish. Since reopening the food is not as good as Blue Fish and is more expensive. Sashimi plate was average like you would get anywhere for 25 instead of 35. Eel rolls ($20) had way too much cream cheese, and seemed to be cheap eel because they had a lot of sharp bones pieces I had to pick out of my mouth. $20 is a lot to pay for eel and cream cheese covered in sugar sauce. I spent $60 here when I feel like it would have only been 45 or 50 for the same stuff at blue fish. Almost all of their rolls are more than $20 with half now $26-$30 range. For normal sushi rolls people are used to paying like 16 for at even the...
Read moreFirst of all, this is my first time tasting such fresh sashimi in this town. I think the biggest draw of this place is that they don't use frozen fish. The sashimi is clean and neatly prepared, and it's incredibly flavorful with best freshness. Also, we have tried a chilly shrimp menu, that dish is also tasteful than any other typical chinese restaurant. The restaurant was very clean and classy, and the friendly servers helped us for a satisfying lunch. I highly recommend it...
