We were hoping for the perfect date night during our stay and my hubby surprised me with a reservation for dinner. We were seated right away but our table was really lacking and we didn’t have a view of anything but bushes. If they could be trimmed a little lower, the entire ocean could be in full view. We requested another table but the hostess stated that this is where the next rotation was being seated. However, the live acoustic music in the background was beautiful and welcoming. The menu was a real let down, it had very few option and all of which had to be “enhanced” which is just another upcharge. I ended up selecting a salad, “enhanced” with chicken for more than $36. It was good, but not great. The rib-eye was AMAZING, probably the best we’d ever had. The sear was perfect and the glaze delicious. It was just a piece of meat unless you “enhance” it. So we “enhanced” a side of garlic fries. Meh. Dinner for two was over $130 not including the tip and we both left not quite full. Our server was very attentive and kind, she really did a great job. The hostess and the busser were loud and a little obnoxious in their conversations, but we were literally sitting right by them. When the tables were being cleared, chairs were dragged, dishes were loudly stacked. It reminded me of a bustling cafe than fine dining. Patrons and families walked through with bathing suits and beach gear. It was all just a little off, not the atmosphere we were anticipating. More than likely, we won’t be back.

As a real estate agent in the Florida Keys, I appreciate the beauty and allure of our local gems, and the Atlantic’s Edge Restaurant at the Cheeca Lodge in Islamorada is no exception. Nestled conveniently on the Oceanside just off of the Overseas Highway, this spot is a treasure for anyone in the upper area seeking a memorable dining experience. Upon entering the Cheeca Lodge, you’re immediately embraced by an ambiance of elegance and tranquility that only heightens as you walk through the lobby towards the ocean. The view is nothing short of fabulous, offering a serene backdrop for enjoying a meal or cocktail while overlooking the Atlantic. The service at Atlantic’s Edge mirrors the relaxed yet sophisticated vibe of the Keys. Friendly, attentive, and unhurried, the staff ensures your dining experience is enjoyable from start to finish. As for the food, it’s both delicious and artfully presented, reflecting the high standards of a top-end resort. While the prices match the quality and setting, I found the experience well worth the investment. For anyone looking for a dining experience that encapsulates the beauty, flavor, and spirit of the Keys, I highly recommend the Atlantic’s Edge Restaurant. It’s a five-star experience that leaves you with a taste of the luxurious side of island life.

Best view on the town for dinner! Had an wonderful date night with girlfriend for our first evening in The Keys. If you love seafood, try the octopus for a appetizer and I highly recommend the scallop and shrimp entree. Our server Matt was incredibly attentive and knew the menu very well. The desserts we tried were outrageously delicious too. Chocolate lovers get the hazelnut chocolate bomb and of course the key lime pie is a must in the keys. All this while listening to live guitar on the oceanfront. Reservations were easy to make online. They have a valet option for parking. All staff is friendly at the resort and gladly answered any questions we had. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

What a disappointment. We had terrible service and terrible food. We walked in with an 8:00pm reservation. It is a beautiful place. That is it for most of the positive stuff. We received a paper menu. It did not match their web site-it was much more limited and did not have the beet appetizer we wanted, the lobster dinner, and other things--oh well, we will adjust. We sat for over 15 minutes before a server came to us. Then it took another 15 minutes to receive our beverages (yes, 30 minutes before we had our beverages) and our order was placed. The Chardonnay was warm (a high end restaurant serving warm white wine?), but it didn't matter because we did not see any server for another 15 minutes when we did receive our appetizer which was the crab cake--which was actually the best we had in the Keys and we were looking forward to our dinner. Oh, and our server did show up just before the appetizer (not with food-someone else gave us the crab cake) he said he had another server taking over for him because he "had other things going on". OK. Another 15 minutes passed and we noted other tables had a bread basket. We flagged down another server and asked if he could help as we had not seen our NEW server and wondered about our dinner. Drinks were gone by that time. He said he would help but never came back. Finally, (this is now an hour into our time there) we talked to the hostess and asked if she could check on our dinner, and why we did not have a bread basket (ok, this sounds a little trivial but you have to understand we had been totally ignored) and also if she could check on our server because at that point we had no idea who it was. The next thing we know we have a nice young man in front of us totally confused with a bread basket and said he was to deliver it to us. This was after the drinks and appetizer. An hour into the reservation. An hour since we sat down still no dinner, no contact from our new server. Another 15 minutes passes. No server. Another trip to the hostess-she will check on food. We received free champagne in plastic glasses. We were at a table on the beach area so they did not serve in glass. hmmm. Another 10 minutes and we received our dinners - this is an hour and 25 minutes after we sat down. I have not even gotten to the bad part. Two of the three dinners were not the correct dish--two of us had ordered macadamia nut encrusted grouper served atop a ripened avocado with golden raisin reduction and tomato confit, and received 2 very small pieces (and I mean small) of grouper on a plate with everything else that was described to be on the snapper plate .(cilantro rice and market vegetables)--no avocado, no reduction, no tomato confit. Manager was called. He looked at our order and our plates and asked the server (who showed up with the Manager) why we had the wrong food--the server had no answer. The Manager asked what he could do to make it better. We advised him of all of the problems, and I told him I did not expect to pay for a dinner that was not what I ordered, let alone the fact that there was very little fish. He comped 2 dinners. The other dinner, a half chicken, was very dry but at that point we just wanted to leave (we had been excited about dessert but at that point they were turning lights off and we just gave up) so we said nothing. We wanted a high end experience, we were prepared to pay for it, and received a very low end one. The 2 stars are for the beauty of the place and the crab cake which was very good. I am not sure I should be even that generous, but at least we did not have to pay for a couple of bites of fish (we paid for the dry chicken, warm wine, and crab cake and actually left a small tip because we have been tipping high to help out with COVID issues as a habit). Good luck with your experience. This was the most disappointing meal we have had. We dine at high end places in Grand Cayman which I am only telling you about so you know we understand high end expectations. This was an...

First vacation in YEARS. 2 small kids doesn't afford me the luxury of travel without the responsibility of mom life. We drove from PA, kid free for the 1st time in so long & THIS place was my fancy dinner for the trip. It was on my 40th birthday. Just me and my husband. Really wanted to love this place. Especially with the reviews & all those fancy dollar signs. The property is beautiful & waiting to be sat for dinner we enjoyed the dock, saw real pelicans, took some fabulous photos but thats really where it ended. When I made the reservation I had mentioned it was my 40th birthday. The hostess that greated us was friendly and told us about the chefs paella special & wished me a happy birthday. Once we were sat at our beautiful outdoor table with spectacular views our server came, we weren't even sure he was our server because he either didnt let us know or you could barely hear him. Everyone else had a mask & we had no problem hearing them articulate themselves. He didnt say anything about my birthday and didnt tell us about anything on the menu or the chefs special or really anything at all. We both ordered the spiney lobster which was a HUGE disappointment. There were more tomatoes than crab or lobster, rubbery little pieces of pork (IDK if it was bacon/pancetta/but something along those lines), there was so much sauce it was white, milky, and soupy from the heat, and most of the flavors from the shell fish was covered up. So I still have no idea how spiney lobster tastes. Mashed potatoes were gummy and rivaled instant mashed potatoes. The waiter barely acknowledged us and we were there when it wasnt busy. We noticed other servers being boisterous and articulate with their patrons and then we noticed our server being more personable with a large table of guests. Guess the 2 of us wouldn't score him as big of a tip. Terrible waiter. We left and had dessert elsewhere. Guess we paid for the views and not the food. Suppose I'll have to wait for my 50th birthday to have a top notch milestone birthday...
