I am providing a three star due to our waitress (Miah) who really lacked in customer service but mainly in follow up skills. We patronized the establishment late afternoon before the dinner rush. Food was very good since we selected salads. My mother asked the waitress which of the salads had the most dark greens. She seemed inept regarding what dark greens are in salads. My mother finally ordered the blackened chicken. She was brought the wrong one that had fried chicken (harvest salad) which lacked dark greens. My salad was with salmon and came with mostly all dark greens. We flagged (who appeared to be) the manager and he brought her more dark greens to match what I had. I later ordered the strawberry cheese cake that noted on the menu with fresh strawberries, and at the same time I asked for another glass of wine to go with the dessert. The waitress brought the cheesecake minus the strawberries only syrup. I turned it away commenting that she should have told me up front the kitchen did not have strawberries. Meanwhile I am still waiting on my 2nd glass of wine. A few minutes passed and the cheesecake was back and the waitress said one of the managers went to a store to get the strawberries; she said the cheesecake was on the house. As she was leaving I reminded her of my glass of wine. We got through three-quarters of the cheesecake and I am still waiting on my wine. Mind you that the establishment was not at all busy and there was only one customer at the bar that I could see. I look behind our table and there's my waitress flirting it up with either another customer or an employee at another table. At this point I am highly annoyed that by the time she gets around to coming to the table she will again have forgotten my glass of wine as we're just about finished with the dessert. She did. Exasperated I just told her to forget it and get us the check. Here's to her lousy customer service that she just flung or rudely tossed the plastic booklet containing the check onto the table and continued walking past. My mom and I just were exhausted enough of the attitude and paid enough cash to cover the check leaving her .24 cents as her 'tip.' She had the audacity to follow out into the parking lot thinking we didn't pay (never checked the booklet) and chastised us for being rude to her and that we were the worst customers she's ever had??!! I was once a waitress and these jobs are not easy. Keeping on top of the menus (what is or isn't available), what the kitchen is doing with and to your orders and an eye on the bar is challenging when the wait staff is assigned more than three tables; depending on the body count at each table. This clearly was not the case with Miah. I am VERY hesitant to ever revisit this restaurant again although my salmon salad...

This sits in the remodeled Max and Erma's in the BV Mall outlot ...a simple mildly upscale rustic decor with a fireplace, not overdone. Tables are raw wood under a simple tablecloth, tables in the booths are finished ...they have 4, 6 and 12 tops, the 12 tops can be curtained off for private function, the only remnants of the old place were the fireplace and the copper top bar ...they also have a romantic 2 top. The staff was very friendly we were greeted quickly upon entering ... Our waitress Nikki, (she's a hugger) was very informative and welcoming, appeared to enjoy her job. She took our drink order and touched on some of the appetizer options as well as soup and fish of the day. We ordered the Firecracker Shrimp, nice crunch, well seasoned with what tasted like a version of a Thai sweet chili sauce, well balanced. I will order these again ...I ordered the Reuben, a modern take on a classic sandwich with Cole slaw and a Tomato Aioli, in place of Sauerkraut and 1000 Island, served on Marbled Rye, good tasting sandwich, to my delight as I am very particular about my Reubens, I did miss that bite of Swiss though, got a nice stack of bread and butter pickles with a little kick. My companion had the Tavern Dip, Burntwood's version of a French Dip, a tender, well seasoned, nice sized sandwich, a flavorful Au Jus, both sandwiches had a good meat to bread ratio, also served with fresh cut fries, well seasoned, nice crunch with a creamy inside. Monday, kids eat free with an adult meal purchase, ours had the grilled cheese and burger, the grilled cheese would be better with a second slice and a better melt, the burger was overcooked and therefore dry, well seasoned though, both came with fries. They have small dessert cups in five varieties. On a side note the do make their own brand of soda, which is a good change. This was opening night, but very smooth, the restaurant was about half-full. Overall a nice dining experience, we will return. Big Poppa Seal of Approval...
Read moreMy new favorite restaurant in the area. Food was a bit slow to get to the table, but was entirely worth the wait. The atmosphere is beautiful, the staff were all amazing. The food, excellent.
The zucchini frites had a light breading similar to tempura with a great flavor. The tomato aioli dipping sauce was spectacular. Had a tiny bit of spice and a great smokey flavor.
As for dinners we had 3 different ones. Fish and chips. This isn't like your regular fish and chips. Nothing frozen here. Just one very long cut of beer battered cod, very fresh. Jalapeno tarter sauce was a pleseant change from the regular stuff.
Pork chop dinner was amazing. Can't remember the last time I had a pork chop cooked so perfectly. They had a peach jalapeno preserves sauce on top that paired perfectly with the pork. The roasted veggies are not like most resturantes. This consisted of from what I could tell was red peppers, brussel sprouts, sweet potatoes, and onions. Grilled perfectly with some kind of dressing or olive oil that really brought it all together.
The Cedar salmon cooked on a cedar plank was also exceptional. Fresh salmon, cooked perfectly with an oven dried tomato vinaigrette on top that really added to the flavor. Also came with grilled asparagus and the same veggies as with the pork chop.
Finally the deserts. Great price and perfect portions. We rarely get dessert at restaurants, but I will likely get dessert here every time. We tried 2 of the 5 flavors. They come in these little beer mugs. Raspberry ice cream on top a fresh brownie, and new york cheese cake with some type of brown sugar glaze on the top. Both were fantastic.
So all in all, amazing restaurant, amazing food, amazing staff. I look forward to my next visit. Also happy hour is entirely worth it, half the menu and drinks are...
