Tropical Smoothie Cafe — Restaurant in Jacksonville

I have visited this location several times and this is the first time I've ever encountered such a hateful employee. The obese AA gentlemen with the small afro was very rude, unprofessional and downright disgusting in his interaction. I sat at the drive thru window for roughly 4 mins with no one coming to the window and I was patiently waiting, talking to my sister on the phone. Suddenly, there is a tap on my window, I let the windows down immediately to this person with a horrible attitude from the start. He begin his first sentence with "Well you were". I was completely confused about what his attitude was about. He goes on to say "never mind..you had the mango smoothie?" Im.confused and tell him go ahead and say what you were going to say bc I'm trying to understand what his issue. He goes on to ignore my question and rudely repeat "so you had the mango berry?" I said, I was here for about 5 mins and no one came to the window so I was looking straight ahead talking on the phone but what is your attitude about?" Then I answered yes I have the mango berry smoothie. He states the total is $8.05 still with a nasty attitude. At which point, I say to him he can lose the attitude. I know I haven't done anything to this person and I don't appreciate his nastiness. He then proceeds to hand me my smoothie horizontally at a 90 degree angle. The smoothie is literally dripping onto the ground bc of how he holding outside the drive window. I did not reach for it and told him I'm not accepting that. You do not hand me a drink like that. He looked me in my eyes and dropped it on the ground. At which point, I still didn't get upset and told him that's fine, you can make another. He immediately snaps I'll give you a refund but I'm not making another one. I said fine, I'll sit in the drive thru until you make another one. At which point, he closes the drive thru window and proceeds to start cursing. I could hear him from my vehicle. He goes outside to help another customer. When I started recording he puts a mask on and waves at me through the window. I finish recording and I leave the drive thru and go yo another tropical smoothie with excellent customer service. I called this location to speak to the manager and this guy answered the phone and proceeds to hang up in my face 5 times. I did not yell, did not curse and this man proceeded to be absolutely disgusting. Please conduct training with this person and remind him of the professionalism and customer service your location normally demonstrates. Obviously, he is new but his behavior will not be tolerated. Be careful about which tropical smoothie you visit bc I was told recently by one of the employees at the Philips highway location, (and have noticed myself) each one varies in price.

This one has smoothies that amount to over $8 (before tip) that’s pricey in my opinion. Why is it not a set price for all locations if this is such a big franchise?

If it’s rated 3 stars by me, it’s for me to remember which stores charge more, so I avoid going back to the pricey ones.

Service is always good. I have zero complaints about the service. I don’t order food at tropical smoothie and I usually do drive thru so atmosphere or ambiance is null and void for this review and well. The smoothies are always good; I just dislike that this is now the second price increase in 6 months, only at random location. They also took away the option to do a survey at the bottom of the receipt to get a 3.99 smoothie starting beginning of 2024.
