I’m a chocolate fanatic, and have gone to several chocolate shows and visited different chocolate shops around the country. My impression of L’atelier du chocolat is that what they do is the old way of making chocolate, very outdated in my opinion. I don’t even think they grind their own cacao beans. Their technique is flawless but the bonbons are way too sweet, to the point that they left a bad taste in my mouth. I also asked for a hot chocolate and I saw them make it with a cheap hot chocolate powder, just regular low end hot chocolate is what I got, tasted like Swiss Miss Chocolate mix from the drugstore. The other thing that really threw me off, was how rude the woman behind the counter was, she was an older lady. Incredibly grumpy. If you love old school overly sweet chocolate this is the place for you, but if you are looking for a high end chocolate experience you’ll be disappointed. Even if the product they serve is not to my personal liking, there's no excuse to treat a costumer rudely, and I've been to the shop twice, I've been polite but it seems they don't believe in costumer service at all. And by looking at the response they gave me to my review, they also seem snobbish, and that they don't really care about...

Read moreFirst of all, the French chef was very friendly and said "thank you" to me when I left. I appreciate his kindness but still need to leave this review.
The young lady behind the counter did a good job even though she didn't appeared to be very familiar with their cakes. That was understandable since they just opened recently.
However, another Asian woman who might be the manager of this store was VERY RUDE. While I was reading the introduction of their cakes, this Asian woman came to me and directly grabbed this paper from my hand telling me that they cannot serve a 2-people cake. WTF??!! That was not how you can treat your customer.
If she is the owner of this store, I will never come back again and let the people around me know about my unpleasant experience. If she is just the manager, the owner should think about hiring...
