Lucky 7 Tavern — Restaurant in Jersey City

Lucky 7 is pretty much the classic dive bar in Jersey City. As others have noted it looks a bit scary from the outside. Like a dingy bar that probably has a few bodies buried in the back. I haven't been out back to check for bodies so I can neither confirm or deny, but the place is usually packed--especially on weekends. Interestingly enough it isn't packed with one demographic, as yuppie, hipster, young people and old people all congregate here. Everyone is friendly though. Drinks are cheap across the board, and even cheaper when you factor in specials. Never had the food so I can't comment there. Service is surprisingly good, although the place is packed and it can be difficult to get a bartender's attention. My advice is to come here with a small group of people who are as broke as you, so you can carve out some personal space for yourselves. I'm not a big dive bar person but even I have to admit this is a decent option if you're looking to get drunk in...

I am a regular with more than 6 years as customer. This is the first time we felt miss treated. I usually order ahead of time as the “best wings in town” usually take about 15-20 minutes to be prepared. Called and ordered ahead, told the lady (name starts with N) I was on my way. Upon arrival, sure thing wings were ready but packed as “to go” in boxed and in a bag. Told the lady I was staying and ordered beers. Unpacked and start eating. Usually with you order at the place they provided you with extra plates for the bones. When I asked her for the plates she refused and told us that since it was packed as “to-go” then there were no more extra plates for me. Can you believe this?! Worst experience ever in a Jersey City bar, avoid coming here at all times! As a local In jersey city and also owner of a local business i have never been treated with such disrespect. The bartender this short tan curly hair girl should learn some manners and actually learn what customer service means, i was ignored for over an hour, calling her several times just to order our drinks. She had no trouble serving everyone but us, finally after several attempts she decided to do what her job is, after she treated us like garbage came back demanding her “tip” . Learn what customer service is and people will gladly tip you.
