Made a reservation for a Wednesday at 6pm for two people. There's an option on Yelp to make a reservation but there is never any availability no matter what time I check. So you are better off just texting the number. They respond very quickly and it was easy to get a reservation then.

When you get there, Sushi by Bou is actually inside Ani Ramen via another door through the back. They'll send you to the back where someone comes and brings you to the sushi counter. There is seating for 8 people but thankfully, they limit it now due to Covid. When we went, there was a party of three sitting on the other end of the bar, so it seemed relatively safe.

For drinks, we didn't feel like anything alcoholic so we tried out the butterfly pea tea yuzu lemonade and it was very refreshing. It sounds like there's a lot going on there but everything just worked.

Like the other locations, omakase is $50 for 12 courses. I've tried Sushi by Bou once before at the NoMad location, which was excellent. Unfortunately, the Jersey City location was a bit lacking (even though our chef and the staff was super nice and attentive). The pieces just didn't seem to have the same quality. The menu consisted of yellowtail, lean tuna, spotted prawn, salmon roe, albacore, toro (instead of chopped tuna), scallop, sea urchin, fatty tuna, salmon, surf & turf, and unagi. My favorites included the yellowtail (which was buttery smooth), lean tuna, roe (surprising because I normally don't like ikura), and fatty tuna (obviously). The disappointing ones (usually the ones you look forward to the most) were the uni and the surf & turf. The uni was not the best, at least it didn't seem like it was omakase quality. The wagyu from the surf & turf seemed a bit overseared, so it was chewy.

I think it's still a good deal overall for the quality/price point - but I'll probably just make the trek out to the other locations...

Recent tried out Sushi by Bou latest NJ spot. My friends and I are veterans of the Sushi by Bou Suite 1001.

Different mood but all Sushi by Bou fun. $50 for 12 piece menu and you can add extras to the meal from drinks, sake flights, and “The Big Mac”.

The Jersey City team made us feel comfortable as soon as we entered the room (which is in the back of the Ani Ramen house... you have to enter though Ani Ramen).

Our sushi chefs were Kevin and Kevin. Both great guys. Our host was Wilson who set out to show us the difference in style of Jersey City from Suite 1001 . Wilson was fantastic.

The sushi course had good sized sushi. A good amount of banter. Loud but not disruptive music. The music fit well with the vibe and decor. The time passed by quickly... too quickly. An hour passed before we knew it. Thankfully we were in the last few slots of the night so we could order more drinks and the “Big Mac”

The “Big Mac” isn’t some McDonald’s burger... it’s pure sushi goodness. It’s an extra $16 but you piece of sushi get a piece of Wagyu beef that is lightly torched Yuzu soy and salt on top then a thick slice of scallop. More soy and salt... then Toro on top of that (Tuna if you don’t know what Toro is) with a little more soy and salt. Then topped off with Uni (Sea Urchin).

We have the Heaven Sake flight with our meal.

Great meal. Great sushi chefs. Great host. Fun place. There is a more casual and loose feel to sushi by Bou at Jersey City compared to the Suite 1001 suite at NOMAD... but it means a rocking good time.

Update: I was just charged 100 from sushi by bou, update my score to reflect that. I will need to waste my time communicating with opentable and sushi by bou again.

Want to give a good feedback even though I have not had dinner here.

I tried to book a table this weekend in open table and when finish entering all my info and click the reserve button, the whole page just freeze and after like 30 sec it shows up as technical issues and let me retry. I retry 3 times, all fail. I reopen the open table website, the slot is gone. I got no email, text or anything so I assume maybe the slot just gets filled.

I got call later from sushi by boy at 6pm which is the time I tried to book. Mike, if I remember the name correctly, from sushi by bou ask about my reservation because I did not show up. I told him what happened and he understood and said if it is opentable problem they will not charge me for not showing up, and he is happy and arrange another slot for me.

I was not charged at least until now.I think it deserve a...
