SOBER SHOT — Restaurant in Jersey City

I’m a big fan of their beverages—the menu is creative, and the drinks are genuinely enjoyable. That said, the space itself feels uninviting. The decor and ambiance lean toward the gloomy side, almost as if the intention is for customers to grab their drinks and go rather than linger.

Service and drink quality also vary widely depending on the day and the barista. Some consistency would go a long way—cross-training or regular monthly training sessions could help maintain the high standards their drinks deserve.

All in all, I still recommend stopping by—especially if you have a few bucks to spare and a craving for something tasty. That said, with the heavy vibe inside, maybe a more fitting name would...

this is my favorite cafe of all time, and i've been to so many in the jc/hoboken area. even in nyc, you wont find coffee like this. i think stopping by sober shot is essential to spending the ideal day in jersey city. service is always impeccable, they are really kind and every barista is good at what they do. while it may not be the perfect place to sit and work, it's definitely perfect to stop by there and then head over to van worst to enjoy your drink. i've been going here for 5 years, and while i've tried many things on the menu, you haven't lived life until you've tried an "iced latte with white top and sugar". give them that order verbatim, and watch your life change....

Such a lovely place, a few blocks away from the public library. The cafe has a great atmosphere and lovely staff.

The drink menu can be overwhelming, as they're more unique than that of the typical coffee shop. I needed help from the barista, who was more than happy to make a recommendation or two; I appreciated that she asked about my dietary restrictions before making suggestions.
