I recently had the pleasure of dining at Gypsy Grill in Jersey City, and I must say, it exceeded all my expectations.
From the moment I arrived, I was drawn in by the inviting ambiance and the Mediterranean charm of the restaurant. The outdoor seating added to the allure, providing a perfect setting for a relaxing meal.
But it was the food that truly stole the show. Each dish was bursting with flavor and made with care. The succulent and juicy lamb chops were a highlight, as were the flavorful pita chicken sandwich and the amazing falafel balls. And let’s not forget about the hummus - it was rich, authentic, and utterly delicious.
What truly set this dining experience apart, however, was the impeccable customer service provided by Hussein, one of the staff members. He went above and beyond to ensure that I had everything I needed, even going as far as to prepare a homemade hot sauce specially tailored to my request for extra spice. The hot sauce was phenomenal, adding an extra layer of flavor to an already fantastic meal.
Overall, my visit to Gypsy Grill was nothing short of exceptional. The combination of delicious food, outstanding customer service, and inviting ambiance made for a memorable dining experience. I highly recommend Gypsy Grill to anyone looking for a taste of Mediterranean cuisine in Jersey City. I know I’ll be back for more.

Read moreI had very HIGH EXPECTATIONS from other reviews and was utterly disappointed. I chose this restaurant after seeing a number of websites garnering this as a top Mediterranean/gyro establishment in Jersey City. This is only important because i made the attempt to eat meat again for the first time in 6 years and took a chance on Gypsy Grill. I ordered the Gypsy Platter. The chicken shawarma in it was okay (would only order again if desperate), and the Gypsy fries and falafel were good but everything else I had was terrible. The rice was dry and I hardly had any salad in my platter. The babaghannouj was disgusting, the spice ratio was not balanced and the consistency was not smooth as you would expect from a puree. I've never had babaganoush that inedible. The Fava Beans were also not great but no where near as detestable as the babaghannouj. It could have benefited from a little salt, and I eat most of my food without salt. For a place with a number of sauces the only ones that were not lacking was the white sauce, hot sauce and harissa, everything else had no a lot of spices and no flavor. I would not go back to this restaurant or recommend it to my friends. Maybe their meat is tasty, but I wouldn't want to subject myself to spending the money on the meat if everything else I'm eating with it makes cat food seem like a...
Read moreFrom the moment I stepped into Gypsy Grill, I knew I was in for a treat. The ambiance exudes warmth and authenticity, making you feel immediately welcomed. The staff, always smiling and attentive, added to the already charming atmosphere.
The real star, however, is the food. I had the pleasure of trying their falafel and chicken shawarma - both were simply divine. The falafel was perfectly crispy on the outside while remaining tender inside, and the shawarma was seasoned to perfection, with flavors that danced on my palate. The sandwiches are a must-try; they wrap these delights in the softest pita, creating a harmony of textures and tastes.
What struck me most was the value for money. The portions were generous, and the quality of the food was outstanding, all at a price that didn’t break the bank. It’s a rare find to see such quality at these prices.
In conclusion, Gypsy Grill is a jewel in Jersey City. Whether you’re a fan of Middle Eastern cuisine or trying it for the first time, this place will not disappoint. Its combination of delightful food, heartwarming service, and a cozy atmosphere makes it a must-visit. I’ll certainly be...
