Edit: I can no longer recommend this place after the management has changed. The service is terrible. If you sit on the patio you are completely forgotten waiting 30 min plus for someone to come take a food order. Once you get food no one checks on you and you have to flag someone down just to pay! If you sit near t he bar you might not be forgotten. The tables are also not wiped down. The food has also changed for the worse. Ordered the grain bowl the veggies were not cooked well and they are fewer, they added a salad for some reason, put chickpeas straight from a can on top, put so little quinoa and modified the goddess dressing so it is thin. The naan chicken sandwich was cooked well but they didn’t even put the corn mix in top! One time we ordered the apple guac and the tostonos were completely stale! Quality is not a thing here anymore so the price cannot even be justified. These issues happened the last four times we visited. The drinks are still good so maybe I’d come rarely just for drinks but never ordering entrees there ever again. So sad this used to be our favorite place and a gem in the neighborhood.
I go here often and every time it’s amazing. The food is sooooo good hits the spot every time. Simple American food with little modifications that just elevate the whole dish. Ample portions and the drinks are fire. Love the ambiance too. Everyone working there is so nice and provides great service. One time I came in during a rain storm and my glasses got all messed up and a waitress helped me get some napkins and alcohol to help clean them so I could see again! So above and beyond. Only wish it wasn’t so pricy but you get your moneys worth. Grain bowl and onion rings are the best!! Bf loves the naan...
Read moreThe place is very nice. It has a both an indoors bar and a covered patio. We stayed in because it was quite hot outside. Service was good and quick, and we always felt taken care of. Despite the nice look and the service, the main protagonist of the restaurant & bar, the food and drinks, were underwhelming. I guess the goal is to create some sort of unique flavor, which ultimately, I think backfired. The burgers were just "OK", and the bacon sauce just ended up testing "odd". A good ol' plain burger at a place should be a must. We wanted to try some of the other elements, but prices are a bit on the high end, particularly for the location: this is a bar in the middle of a residential, middle class neighborhood in the Heights. Then, the drinks. The cocktails looked great on paper, but they were also disappointing. They felt watered down and lacking flavor. We tried 4 of them, thinking that maybe our first choice was just an off one, but no, same thing. Again, prices on the high end. So overall, while we were very excited about this place, having found it on Instagram, it is unlikely we will visit again: with "just OK" food (granted, there are many things we didn't try, so YMMV) and subpar drinks, and featuring Manhattan-level prices, we may be looking elsewhere. I do want to reiterate our comment on the service, which was quite good. So, maybe, a revamping of the food & drinks menu, and pricing things according to the area, may be a good direction...
Read moreThe entire restaurant was beautifully decorated for the holidays, creating a warm and cheerful ambiance. Seasonal cocktails added an extra touch of festivity to the celebration.
We fell in love with the restaurant's aesthetics, especially the enclosed patio with rear brick and a stunning large tree. The setting was not only festive but also uniquely charming.
The staff at The Hutton were outstanding—friendly, knowledgeable, courteous, and attentive. Their service significantly contributed to the overall positive atmosphere.
We sampled the calamari, onion rings, and chicken wings, and each dish was delicious. The standout was undoubtedly the onion rings, which were generously sized and had everyone at the party raving. I heard equally glowing reviews about the chicken sandwich, burger, and steak. Additionally, the seasonal cocktails are a delightful treat that adds to the overall experience.
The beverage menu caters to all tastes, offering top-shelf liquor and everyday standards. The quality of both food and drinks was on par with downtown Jersey City and Hoboken, yet the prices were surprisingly reasonable.
Overall, The Hutton exceeded our expectations in every aspect, and we highly recommend it for a festive gathering or any dining occasion. We'll definitely be returning for more of those amazing onion rings and...
