Pel'meni — Restaurant in Juneau

The food is to absolutely die for! The two different dumpling options are fantastic.

There are not enough tables or chairs but I believe this is to keep people from lingering too long.

The atmosphere is SO close to being completely amazing due to the records and the very hole in the wall vibe...however...when we came in the music was blaring SO loudly we nearly left. And when we were in there we couldn't hear the young man taking our orders. We couldn't talk to each other because of how loud it all was. Also the music had lots of foul language and racist phrases and words. It was a wee bit shocking in my opinion.

I don't consider myself a prude however I certainly would NEVER take children in there if the music being played that night is on.

And as a side note, they use all plastic ware, and styrophom containers for all of their dishes. Nice and cheap however pretty rotten for the environment considering the gorgeous surroundings of nature you find yourself in while staying in Juneau! Hope they can find a slightly better option soon!

All in all the the food gets 5 massive stars from me!!! Be sure to try both dumplings and be sure you get ALL the trimmings and get sour cream from the fridge to use with it!

Went into Pel'meni today on April 29, 2019 for a late lunch at about 3:30p.m. and the cook said it would be a ten minute wait, so I walked around for 10 minutes and came back exactly 10 minutes later and as I'm walking in a party of about 6 walks in behind me I said " I'm here for my one order." And the cook said it will be another 10 minutes but I realized that the cook had two orders set aside! I was very disappointed and hungry, I believe the cook wanted to serve the ppl that walked in behind me and wronged me by not serving me when he said he would. ( The place was not busy ) I think he was being lazy and wanted to serve the ppl behind me first. ( I don't like the fact that Pel'meni often makes food orders before they are ordered and often people get old- luke-warm food! This has happened several times where I enter Pel'meni mid-day and they have orders pre made and the food is not fresh!!!! Horrible practice and often lazy tactics by Pel'meni staff / cooks! * I'm No longer giving Pel'meni's my business! I recommend asking for fresh made food if you go to Pel'meni in downtown Juneau... * And I always tip at least a dollar. Never again! Pel'meni's is FIRED!!! I highly suggest people go elsewhere for a quick bite. * Rude staff and horrible practice...

Delicious dumplings | Funky atmosphere | Can’t miss quick stop

We were passing through Juneau on an Alaskan cruise and wanted to make sure we ate some great local food. Pel’meni was on our list and it was the perfect pop-in on the way back to the boat on a very rainy and chilly day.

My partner and I split a 20 piece potato pel’meni order. The pel’meni were outstanding! There is a lot of Russian food where we live, but these are some of the best we’ve had. They came smothered in sauce, dry paprika, curry powder, and topped with fresh cilantro. We followed the instructions to scoop some sour cream, then pick up a dumpling, enjoy, and repeat. It was so good! The final step after all the dumplings were gone was to take the rye bread and soak up the sauce at the end of the meal. Again, amazing!

The gentleman behind the counter was super friendly and helpful. The environment was cozy with fun tunes playing. The wall has a bank of vinyl to appreciate as well. If you are just passing through Juneau or need (what I assume MUST be) a great nighttime snack after the bar, you owe it to yourself to stop by...
