AWESOME sandwiches!! Got the #1 and it was so delicious! Best deli meats I've had and they don't skimp. Very filling, cheap, and great value.
Minus 1 star because although the gelato tasted good (we got limoncello and strawberry cheesecake), it wasn't fresh and creamy like gelato should be. It had definitely melted and refrozen because it had an AWFUL gritty texture from ice crystals. The limoncello also had a weird stringy, chewy/gummy texture like jelly pectin gone wrong.
I'd take at least 2 stars off for this anywhere else because frankly it was the worst gelato I've ever had. But I'm giving benefit of the doubt bc we went during the week and it wasn't busy so I'm not surprised it wasn't fresh. Plus the sandwiches alone are worth a revisit. Their bakery case also looked really good, I'll just get that next time. Their italian deli and dry groceries also looked really good.
If you do wanna attempt the gelato, take a good look at it to make sure it doesn't look melted and if it's stringy when they try to scoop it, don't get it. Hopefully this was just a one off problem cause it DID taste really good and I wanna...
Read moreI want to start out by saying I’ve been going to this location since I was about 4 or 5 years old. It was my dads favorite place to take us as kids. I’ve always had amazing things to say, but over the last year or so that’s definitely changed. It started out as a few messed up orders thru Door dash, which I completely understand, things happen. So I made note to myself to only go in person. The last 2 times I’ve went in person my sandwich has been made incorrectly, which is no big deal, but the response from staff was. I was told that “I ordered wrong” or “When I was a kid we had to eat what was given". As an ADULT, paying with ADULT money i didn't take to kindly too that response. I am literally allergic to tomatos and I can’t have oil for dietary reason. I come home and put ORGANIC veggies on it. There’s absolutely no reason for staff to belittle someone’s sandwich topping choices; I mean come on.🙄I pay good money for a sandwich that used to be $5.75, I shouldn’t be met with judgement from the employees there. I’m not sure if the owners kids took over, but it’s just sad how little they take pride in customer...
Read moreI have to agree with other people the customer service here really brings down the deli to a 2/5 stars. I’ve even contemplated 1/5 but I think after 5-7 visits I’ll stick with 2 for now.
I’m under the impression that it’s definitely family owned. Many staff members are very passive and uninterested in the flow of customers in the deli. Their facial expressions can sometimes even give you the sensation that they may feel they are doing YOU favor by acknowledging you. Ever ask somebody for something, and they silently hand it or throw at you then fold their hands and watch TV? It may happen here.
Despite all that I enjoy coming here for gelato and my wife likes their cannoli! As a child in Boston I used to work at an Italian family owned restaurant and coming into this small deli, looking at products really brings me back to my childhood memories as a young, impressionable 13 year old working under the table. Pizzelle with powdered sugar will never get old. I really wish they would start selling arancini! Or maybe they too and I haven’t discovered yet? I’ll have to find out...
