Maxi Arepa — Restaurant in Katy

On April 20th, I stopped by to eat here during my lunch break as a friend of mine recommended the place. I ordered an arepa Pepiada and 2 empanadas, the food was great but a few hours after eating I started to feel nauseous, I had started taking new vitamins that require you to eat before taking and I thought maybe I hadn’t eaten enough and blamed it on that. I drive a company vehicle and as I was driving the nausea got worse, my stomach was hurting so bad I decided to head home as I was 40 minutes away and I didn’t want for it to get worse while I was driving. On my way home I couldn’t hold back and threw up multiple times on my company vehicle, had to pull over on the side of the freeway multiple times as I couldn’t stop heaving and it was causing me to swerve. Eventually I made it home and when I got home I started to have diarrhea and a fever kicked in. I had the worst food poisoning ever, now I hear the restaurant is “temporarily” closing, I hope that if it does reopen they take cleanliness and people’s health more seriously as people with existing health issues could worsen due to...

DANGER: FOOD POISONING.

Please avoid eating anything from this place. They have monthly reports of food poisoning due to either poor food handling or due to dubious food providers. I purchased a chicken and beef arepa and an order of tequeños. For about 5 to 7 days I experienced severe symptoms of bloating, stomach, pain, and diarrhea. It has since been two weeks after this purchase, and I am still experiencing gastrointestinal issues produced by the damage that this food caused me.

I contacted the store and the owner dismissed my claim by stating that there had not been any other reports of food poisoning within the particular month. He disclosed that there had been other reports within the last three months, but not that particular month. My purchase occurred within the first days of the month. Take that as you will. One contact it again to follow up on this situation, the store manager simply ignored the attempt. And now I have to foot the bill for the medical assistance that I need you to their negligent miss handling of food. Let alone keep experiencing G.I. problems that have persisted up until the moment of his review.

Avoid this place at all costs.

PELIGRO: INTOXICACIÓN ALIMENTARIA.

Por favor, evita consumir cualquier cosa de este lugar. Tienen informes mensuales de intoxicación alimentaria debido a un manejo deficiente de los alimentos o proveedores de alimentos dudosos. Compré una arepa de pollo y carne, además de una orden de tequeños. Durante aproximadamente 5 a 7 días, experimenté síntomas graves de hinchazón, dolor de estómago y diarrea. Han pasado dos semanas desde esta compra y todavía tengo problemas gastrointestinales causados por el daño que esta comida me provocó.

Contacté al establecimiento y el dueño desestimó mi reclamo al afirmar que no había habido otros informes de intoxicación alimentaria en ese mes en particular. Reveló que había habido otros informes en los últimos tres meses, pero no en ese mes específico. Mi compra ocurrió en los primeros días del mes. Toma eso como quieras. Cuando intenté contactarlos nuevamente para dar seguimiento a esta situación, el gerente del local simplemente ignoró el intento. Y ahora tengo que pagar la asistencia médica que necesito debido a su negligente manejo de los alimentos. Ni hablar de seguir experimentando problemas gastrointestinales que persisten hasta el momento de esta reseña.

Poor service!! The quality of the food is good! But 5 times straight and each time is wrong and all the orders are to go! So every time that I pick up something I have to check the order in site and always is missing something! And sometimes you put what ever you want in my order if I order chicken when I got home is beef! I see more people working there and more mistake there is a lady at the corner “checking the order from the kitchen and she is always at the phone recording the place! Or the people!
