The restaurant is located in a strip mall on Westgreen to the right of the Mafia Sushi. Lunch time was very busy with one waitstaff taking orders and managing the front.
I ordered the Longnan tea and my son ordered the Thai coffee. The drinks was not too sweet and the coffee wasn't too strong. Like perfection....
The food took a while and we waited over 35 mins for our first apps to arrive then our order slowly came one after another.
For starters; Chicken Satay - the chicken was flavorful, tender, juicy and moist. It came with a peanut dipping sauce and pickled cucumber and daikon. One of the best satay that I have eaten so far.
Crispy roll - it was served right out of the fryer and very hot to the touch. The skin was crispy and there were a nice amount of fillings. You can choose to wrap it with lettuce since it's hot to the touch or if you can handle the heat, eat it like it is or dip it in fish sauce for further flavor enhancement.
I wanted to to sample the lunch set so I chose the Noodle Lover Set. There was an option onto choose the Pad Thai or Pad See Ew. Pad See Ew it is :) i also chose the medium spicy and it was still spicy and I think mild level would be best as I don't want to be in pain while eating. The set came out beautifully plated with the main dish along with small bites of starter i.e. steamed dumpling and pickled veggies and sides of crispy fried wonton with sweet chili sauce and fried tofu. Everything was delish! There was even a small dessert of coconut rice and mango served warm included in the lunch set...yummo!
My son ordered the Curry Set (parang curry). He got the medium spice level and it was a bit spicy for him as well. I tasted a bit of his curry and it was slightly sweet but he enjoyed his dish along with his small bites. Usually my son don't like coconut but he liked his dessert. Also my son loved the crab fried rice. There were a good amount of chunky crab meat on top of the fried rice and the flavor was on par.
Here is my after thought: the food was served piping hot and you could tell a lot of pride and love went into these dishes. The waitress and the owner/chef apologized for the long wait time but it was well worth the wait. We will be coming back to try other items...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of ordering takeout from Me Khun , and I was thoroughly impressed. This local Thai restaurant delivers an exceptional dining experience, even for those getting their food to-go.
I opted for the Yen-ta-Fou, and I was delighted to find that the quality and taste of the dish held up beautifully during the takeout process. The aromatic broth remained rich and flavorful, perfectly balancing sour, sweet, and spicy notes. The shrimp were tender, the vegetables crisp, and the tofu chunks hearty and satisfying.
What really stood out was how well the meal traveled. Often with takeout, the textures and temperatures can suffer, but Me Khun managed to deliver the dish piping hot and with all the components maintaining their integrity. It was as if I was eating it fresh in the restaurant.
The service was also top-notch. The staff was friendly and helpful, ensuring my order was prepared with care and packed securely for the journey home.
Whether dining in or ordering takeout, Me Khun is a true gem. I highly recommend giving them a try - you won't be disappointed, even if you're enjoying their food from the comfort of your own...
Read moreI don’t know what’s authentic Thai food. I normally wait until I go to Austin to eat at Madam Mam’s for Thai food. After being introduced to Me’Khun, I feel I have a better understanding of it because it is AMAZING. It is delicious, soulful, and more Asian-like than Madam Mam’s. Real Thai people work in the back and front of the house. Real Thai people eat here, too. I’ve been there 3 times and have tried curry, pad thai, fried rice, and soup. I haven’t been disappointed. My normal order starts with the young coconut drink still in the coconut shell. Today, I felt like eating light so I ordered the raw salmon sushi roll. It is stuffed full of vegetables and rolled in rice paper but cut into sushi rolls. It comes with a delicious spicy sauce. Their menu isn’t huge but has a variety of options for everyone. I appreciate the cleanliness of the place every time I visit, including the bathrooms. It’s a small place so can get full fast. When they get busy, they can be slow...
