Yan Tea Cafe is an absolute gem for those craving authentic Hong Kong flavors in Katy. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere. The cozy yet modern decor, with its clean lines and subtle Asian-inspired accents, set the stage for a great dining experience. I ordered the duck over rice, and it did not disappoint. The duck was perfectly roasted—crispy skin, tender meat, and just the right amount of seasoning. The accompanying rice was fluffy and well-cooked, absorbing the savory duck juices beautifully.
To drink, I had the coconut milk tea, which was rich, creamy, and full of tropical flavor without being overly sweet. The balance of coconut and tea was spot on. The service was friendly and efficient. My order was taken promptly, and the food arrived within a reasonable time. The staff was attentive but not intrusive, always ready to answer questions about the menu or offer recommendations.
The ambiance strikes a nice balance between casual and stylish. It’s a great spot for a quick lunch, a relaxed tea break, or even a casual dinner with friends. The lighting is soft, and the background music adds to the pleasant dining experience without being overwhelming. For the quality and portion sizes, the prices are very reasonable. You’re getting well-prepared, authentic Hong Kong-style food without breaking the bank.
Yan Tea Cafe delivers on both food and experience. The duck over rice was fantastic, and the coconut milk tea was a perfect complement. If you’re looking for a spot with delicious Hong Kong BBQ, a great selection of milk teas, and a cozy atmosphere, this place is definitely worth visiting. I’ll be back to try more...
Read morei come to yan tea to get rice over pork belly all the time, i've been a regular for a good while now, but today i had two issues with Yan Tea. first, as i was paying, my cashier leaned over her first at the counter to see me signing and adjusting tip as i was paying, well, that's really uncomfortable. i wonder how many other people they do this to to guilt trip them into tipping. i'm in the service industry myself so i've always had tipped at least 15% tho i mostly only do takeout but because she did that, i confidently pressed on no tip. i'm not sure if that was what's leading to my second issue, so, long story short, as i was eating( i'm always watching something when i eat) first i wasn't paying attention i was just eating but i felt as though it tasted a little funky/metallic then i looked my plate and it looked like this, the meat looks bruised, i ended up throwing this plate away. they never looked like this before. they're so brown but not like well cooked brown, it's like sickly brown. i noticed that usually when i come get the plate earlier in the day the meat usually looked more fresh that's why i went around noon but i don't know what happened today. it makes me feel a little sick that i in fact had finished half on this plate already. i'm not sure if this lady gave me bad food on purpose because i...
Read moreAwkward layout as spot to order is right nx to the entrance. Service was ok, cashier was plesant but confused. The place was very clean and chic. Food came out lightning fast in like 3 mins. We ordered the duck wings, beef & and broccoli, and duck with rice & cabbage. Let me start off that the duck was fantastic, everything else was horrible. The rice mounds that were served tasted like stale leftover rice. The beef did not taste like beef. It was soft like tofu and luke warm in a weird brown instant like sauce with steaming hot broccoli. The broccoli burnt my tongue but everything else on the plate was room temperature. The duck wing appetizer looked unappetizing. I think they were microwaved from frozen. They were smashed together and had to be pulled apart. Which is why I think they are pre cooked, frozen stored and heated up as the came in a plastic to go container, when everything else was on serving plates. Also there were duck feet in there too, although the item only specified the wings. I know thus seems like a rant but if I give a bad review I like to explain. Although the cashier and a few other staff walked by, I did not get a chance to flag them down as I did not eat my food. But at least my dining partner enjoyed their duck, while I enjoyed my soda as that was all that was...
