Bobby's Monkey Bar — Restaurant in Key West

I used to love this place as it was very low key but my recent experience has caused me to never want to step foot in that place again, sadly. Its a cash only bar which is fine but after getting my bill and going to the atm, the atm had some error on it and it wouldnt let me get my cash out. so i went and told the bartender and there were 3 men sitting next to each other at the bar. as i was explaining to the bartender what was going on and seeing if there was another atm, i could hear the man in the middle say to his buddy “i think they just don’t want to pay for their drinks” which is really rude as we were in the process of doing so. my lady and i are some of the nicest locals in kw and to be treated like that was really concerning. i then told him to see for himself so he got up and followed me but when i tried it that time it had worked. as i was waiting to pay for the drinks, i could hear his buddies telling the guy to ‘calm down’. i’m not sure why he was riled up but i could feel the tension that it had something to do with me. as i paid for the drinks, i then asked the bartender if that guy was the owner and she said he was just the day shift worker or something like that. either way, such a terrible experience because everything else seemed fine. at least we got to play a round of billiards so not...

I love Bobby’s Monkey Bar. First, it’s cash only. Come prepared. Second, the karaoke here is fantastic. The KJ Jeff has the most amazing voice of any KJ I’ve ever heard anywhere. He sings better than Puddles the Clown from AGT and yet has a similar tone just a better, higher, wider register. He works hard to keep a safe space where everyone can sing. Masks included or not included. The drinks are stiff and the bartenders are amazing. The sound system is amazing and bonus points if you sing a song with “monkey” in it. Or add it in. Stop in. The beer is cold. The drinks are stiff and the staff is friendly! Great locals joint but just as much a karaoke bar...

Definitely won’t be going here after hearing about how my friend and her family were treated at this place after bringing them business. From dirty looks since she walked in, to the DJ skipping over my friends requests (but acknowledging others) then giving a rude response and dropping the F bomb to her, not to mention a bad attitude from the OWNER BOBBY replying to my friend very unprofessionally after she gave her honest review on her experience. I’ll be sure to tell others who I know frequent the area or plan to go in the future all about it. No thank you!...
