I haven't been to a Mimi's in over a decade, but looking up the menu online had me salivating for so many of their entrees. I took my husband and toddler son with us and were delighted to see they had kids options, decadent pastries, and sparkling morning beverages Mimi's has always been known for. Plenty of quaint bench seating outside and in the foyer for parties to potentially wait on the busiest nights gave me courage that the atmosohere was going to be top notch as evidenced by all the staging of the queue. Just inside, to the left of the hostess podium and to-go counter, the full bar stood gloriously with its selections prominantly displayed, perched upon shelving behind a beautiful wooden bar counter in an antique looking European saloon setting. Patrons were casually dining and conversing, scattered throughout the dining rooms. We arrived about 9/9:30am and even though it wasn't busy, we only waited less than two minutes while the hostess said she was having a booth cleaned for us (we chose booth from seating options). The French themed music quietly wafted on the air, and the aroma of other breakfast dishes floated after servers as they delivered to tables. We ordered an item or two from their featured seasonal selections, and pored over the menu for our meals. Our overall experience was a good one and the restaurant is clean. A few things I recommend they work on are: 1.) communication between who's cleaning tables and seating as despite our hostess asking us to wait 2 minutes for a booth to be cleaned, sat us at a dirty table with crumbs, salt and pepper strewn all over with cooking oil/greasy streaks and fingerprints that been set with new napkins and silverware. We were promptly apologized to and taken to a clean booth. 2.) When our meals were served, my toast was heavily well done, reminiscent of my own mother's cooking ahem charred around the edges and tough and crunchy. I wasn't asked if I wanted extra well toasted bread, but I was expecting a light golden toast to my sourdough allowing my bread to still be somewhat plyable and be able to sop up my eggs' overeasy yolkes. The flavors were well balanced, but I could tell the plate was quickly assembled. Either way it all ends up together in your stomach just the same. I was there for time with my family, so I didn't want to have that come to screeching halt by sending anything back to the kitchen, delaying eating any longer. These are instances that are "one-offs" and not normal happenstance nor occurrence. I've worked in restaurants long enough to know that simple mistakes or oversights happen sometimes and are not part of the normal protocol. Also, people with small children understand the flow of meals is often determined by their child, who will not wait for second chances given to others. My choice to not say anything turned out well. Those little experiences didn't dampen my enjoyment with my family here. I feel this restaurant is amazing and that I would like to come back with my family and my parents...
Read moreI didn't even want to give one star but they're food was good. My parents used to take me to mimis cafe after church as a kid. It's been a long time but I had a pregnancy craving for Mimi's the other day so my little family and I went. I will admit my two year old son can't sit for too long so when he got fidgety we decided to take everything togo but servers where looking at us very rude. I thought I was being considerate by leaving? Any way food was amazing so we went back with a group of friends. Our server was very sarcastic and rude to my friends when they had questions about the mamosa deal. Then they never came by to refill our waters. We had to get up and ask the bar tender... Then when they brought our food they brought out my son's stuff last like 5 mins after we all had our food and we ordered his first. Today we just called to place an order togo because I refuse to eat inside now. I asked how they make there oat meal? For instence is it with milk or water? Do you put surgar in it or no? Is there friut in it or no? But her answer to me was " well we boil water and put oats in it." So I had to really spell it out like " wow thanks but like do you add surgar or fruit ??" She was so rude. I work as a customer service representative at an animal hospital and I would never get away with talking to clients like this first off. Second I would never bother with this Mimi's cafe if they weren't the only ones in the desert and my pregnancy cravings seriously are all for their food! Amazing job goes...
Read moreShort story: Breakfast here was depressing, dismal and burnt.
Long story: First, we asked to sit outside and we were told by the one poor woman working all the positions herself (hostess/waitress/busser) that outside hadn't been cleaned but we could sit there if we really wanted to (basically she was pleading with us not to go outside). I told her inside was fine then.
I ordered simple French toast breakfast with sausage and scrambled eggs; my two kids ordered the kid puppy pancake.
When the order came out, there was bacon on my plate instead of sausage. As she set it in front of me and then gave my kids their pancakes, I said, "oh, sorry, I ordered sausage" and she took the plate back to the kitchen. I could see they scraped off the bacon and relpaced it with sausage when she gave it back to me...but I do wonder what they did with that bacon that was sitting in front of me that me and my two kids were breathing on?
My French toast was burnt. It tasted like old toast. My kid's pancakes were also very bland and literally just a stack of two little dry and overcooked pancakes on a plate. They didn't touch their food outside of a few small bites and I left my French toast there.
We never had a chance for refills or anything with the waitress because, like I said, she was one lady trying to wait on 10 tables while also seating, cleaning the tables of dishes and doing the to-go orders at the front. I left her a nice tip but honestly, for $40 it was an...
