Growing up in Anderson, IN, Pizza King has been a long time favorite! Every time I go home, I stop at any of the locations and have the best food and great times with friends. My husband, who is from Chicago, has never been a fan of our Indiana style pizza. However, on a recent trip to Lafayette, he decided to give it one more chance.
We stopped in at the Creasy location in Lafayette. We were the only ones there. This location is definitely designed different. It doesn't have the red "Ring the King" phones on the tables. If you sit at a booth, there's a way to order, but there is no red phone. If you sit at a table, you have to order at the window. I was willing to let all of that slide.
I was looking to order The Feast, but after studying the menu realized it was renamed to The Deluxe. Ok...that's fine. I placed my pizza order with 2 sides of breadsticks and drinks for my family. A few minutes later, the breadsticks were brought over. Something about them didn't seem right and they were served with melted cheese. When I order it back in Anderson, it is served with cheese AND marinara. My daughter went to the window to request a side of marinara and was told it would be an extra $2.25. Um, huh? The manager said "I'm sorry. I don't make the prices." Ridiculous!
Later, someone gave us tiny paper plates (pictured). What happened to regular plates and regular silverware? The pizza was brought out on a lunch tray (pictured). What in the world??? THE PIZZA TASTED FINE, but everything else about the experience was simply awful! And, to top it off, we had to bus our own table!!! My teenage kids were devastated. This is not anything like our experiences when we visit "home" (Anderson).
I will NEVER return to this location! And, I'm also upset because I will probably NEVER convince my husband to step foot inside a Pizza King ever again!
Sorry that the picture has half eaten pizza, but it was at that moment that I decided I was upset enough to...
Read moreIf I could rate it 0 I would one hundred times. The female manager (probably in her 50s) is INCREDIBLY unprofessional and rude as hell! We went tonight (there were ONLY 2 other families dining as well) and ordered breadsticks, side salads, and a pizza for the kids. After attempting to place our order (via the ancient intercom) 5 times (and they literally kept interrupting with "WHAT'D YOU SAY", we said "isnt it possible to just come to our table?!" So, she came, wrote down our order (we saw everything she wrote because her paper pad was on the table) and returned shortly with our drinks. 25, yes 25 minutes later, we intercommed back to ask where the salads were, they responded "what did you say?" 😡😡😡😡. 5 minutes later (nobody has yet to come to our table), they intercommed US to go to the front and pick up our food! $50.55! there sat our salads, breadsticks, and pizza. I said "does this restaurant not deliver salad BEFORE the entree? The RUDE MANAGER RESPONDED "WE DIDNT KNOW YOU WANTED SALAD". I responded "not only did she write it down, but we also called you from the booth to ask for them!" manager responded "WE'RE KINDA BUSY BACK HERE!!!" (IN A VERY VERY RUDE TONE). Needless to say, the place sucks, the staff sucks, the price sucks, and their stupid ancient intercoms really suck!!!!! If you want good pizza king, Winamac is the...
Read moreThe first time I went there, it was clear that I worked at a hotel because of my uniform. The service was great, personable, decent food, and so on. The next time I went there, I was working at a different hotel that didn't have a uniform, so they didn't know the influence I could have. Must have made a difference because after I gave my order, another customer at a table was calling in their order. I came back to pick up my order within the timeframe only to discover that they chose to make the table's food first (hadn't even STARTED mine yet). Then when I mentioned I was on my way to work, the manager on duty (which I had remembered from the first time I went) stated "I was planning on cooking it the quick way, so it will only take 5 minutes to cook". Obviously when i started eating at work I noticed that the crust was still doughy and the food didn't taste good. I called and complained (talking to a different manager). That manager offered me a food credit, but I told him I would NEVER go back there again and send my customers to Arnis instead (which I have NEVER had any problems with and from what I could tell from first and second visit...a lot better food quality anyway). I would NOT recommend their service or their food. You never know when or how your food...
