Teatery - Tea and Tapioca — Restaurant in Lafayette

I came based on the reviews- and I was really disappointed. The service started underwhelming. They were having issues with their machine and didn’t say “I’ll be right with you” or anything to that affect. So I’m just standing around waiting wondering if I’m at the right register (there were 2) or if I should just leave or what. It was a bit awkward but I waited around because 1) they were young and 2)?probably focused on the task at hand

There were 3 ppl there when I arrived- I ordered something she recommended after I told her I wanted a boba tea that was sweet which was the Okinawa Milk Tea. She asked if I wanted a topping- I inquired about the toppings they had. I then asked her what she recommended and she said tapioca boba. I asked if that tea came with boba- and she said no- you have to add it. Which would be fine- except I literally asked for a boba tea when I walked in.

No I may be nitpicking over silly things- but then I waited 10 minutes for the tea to be made- idk what they were doing initially (I’m assuming it had to do with the machine from when I walked in earlier) but something like “we are a little behind but it’ll be ready shortly” was definitely warranted. I mean they were good and friendly people working there- but it’s small things that make the customer experience a little better.

Now I probably would’ve not said anything at all- but I just tasted this tea and it’s bitter. Not sweet at all. I blame myself for not asking more questions or sticking with something I know- because all taste buds are different. But there is nothing about this tea that screams sweet.

We love the Baton Rouge location and go nearly weekly, but we are regularly disappointed by this new location. It takes entirely too long for a drink to be made. All of the times we have gone, we have been the only people in the store and it has taken over 30 minutes for two drinks— compared to the BR location where there are more customers and it takes less time.

Additionally, this most recent time we went, they gave us incorrectly made drinks. (Thai tea WITHOUT boba [given to us with boba] and a Lychee Peach black tea with crystal boba [given lychee peach oolong tea with crystal— then given lychee peach black with no boba.])

Third time trying them and it never disappoints!! My absolute favorite is the Vietnamese coffee!! I tried it with pandan, sea salt foam and ube; my favorite is sea salt foam or the pandan. The brown sugar milk tea is very yummy! This is the second time I got the strawberry matcha; the first time it was perfect with the milk to matcha ratio but this time it tasted more like strawberry milk. It wasn’t bad at all I just would’ve liked more matcha. All the ingredients taste very fresh and high quality! I also got a Japanese cheesecake and macarons. Both were yummy!! This is my go to boba...
