The food was only slightly above average, especially considering the pricing. I get that the locally sourced ingredients can incur more expenses, but in the end I care most about the taste- and it's been fairly typical pub food in my two visits. The home made fries were a welcome idea, but were mostly burnt. The grilled cheese sandwich I had featured some tasty tomatoes, but was otherwise unnecessarily greasy and a bit bland overall. I would have liked it better with an authentic smoked gouda for the to give it some flavor depth. A touch of garlic would have also added some life to it.
The atmosphere is trendy and new, tables and some of the wall art is unique to look at. It kind of has a antique/industrial feel to it, like many of the recently renovated microbrew places down in Chicago's wrigleyville- and similar to Lake Genevas' Oakfire on the lake. It does seem like a shame that they ripped out all of the ACTUALLY old bar from the old Chicago Pizza Co. that used to occupy the property- just to put in new stuff made to LOOK old. That beautiful old bar and wood floor would have blended nicely with the new industrial themed additions and would have resulted in a warmer feel in my opinion. The bathrooms are newly renovated from the old building and are now quite spacious.
OWNERS- if you read this- replace those oddly small metal stools ASAP! Those were only slightly more comfortable than sitting on a 5 gallon bucket. I seriously will walk back out if next time I go in there that is the only seating available. If you have to go with a small stool because of space constraints (thats my guess), go with a backless stool so average sized people could actually sit MOSTLY on the seat surface.
I may be back in the future, but probably not for the food- they boast over 100 beers! That is their unique attribute at this time that I didnt know about prior to visiting.
Make the pricing 15% more reasonable for pub food, replace those awful stools (yes, they are that bad), and it would be more likely to be be on my rotation of...
Read moreMy wife and I entered here today shortly after 3p, expecting it to not be busy. A large party had just been seated out on the patio and we attempted to sit inside. We stood awkwardly in the entryway while several members of the outdoor party went back and forth to the bar multiple times, leaving with several pitchers and individual drinks. There was no host so I asked the bar if it was "seat yourself". I was directed to a table near the door, and again became agitated by the folks on the patio making several trips back and forth. We asked for our table to be moved to the back when the gentleman bussing tables came to wipe down the table next to us, and saw we didnt have menus, after having been seated there for about 5 minutes. We moved to the back of the restaurant and waited another 10 minutes without being greeted in any way by staff, while watching the party outside again make several trips to the bar and receive immediate service. After filling several pitchers for the table outside, bar staff came to deliver food to and check on the tables near us, but still did not offer any acknowledgment at all. We left after waiting nearly 20 minutes after being seated without any attempt at service from staff. My wife currently is working in and I have worked in the service industry and we both understand that managing an unexpected large party with seemingly excessive requests can be demanding. However, it doesn't excuse you from ignoring the remainder of your guests, especially when attending to tables directly adjacent. To be clear, we are not expecting or demanding immediate service, however a simple greeting of "hi I'll be with you as soon as I can" goes a long way to ensure we know that someone has acknowledged us and ensure that we know we will be eventually be...
Read moreService is extremely poor at best. Please read the following. Was interested in trying out their burgers, menu seemed great. The place didn’t have a take out option, therefore went to the location. The hostess greeted us and offered a seat inside. When asked if they have a take out option, she didn’t seem to know the answer and told me to ask the manager. The manager, said no to take out; dine in only. We asked the hostess to sit outside, she said it would be a few mins before the table would be cleared. We went outside and waited for the table to be cleared. A couple finished their meal and left, we sat down and waited for the hostess to clear the table. The table had glasses full of water and three meals with half of their food still in them. The hostess cleared the plates and then dumped the water in front of us on the side walk. The water splashed on my feet and left the lemon rind where the water was dumped. No apology from her, she went on with her business. Given this experience, we walked off and will never return again. The attitude and customer service of the employee was unprofessional and plain rude. Given this pandemic, wouldn’t you want to have someone clean the table with a disinfectant before another guest sits down, would you want to be a bit friendlier to customers who are coming back after lockdown period?! I hope this place gets their ducks in a row if not the state should look into their disinfecting policy in time of the pandemic. The owner should look into training people on proper customer service or hiring individuals with a bit more care for...
