I am writing this review not to bash this establishment but to hopefully let others know what to watch out for and possibly help this place change some things.
I stayed here this past weekend near the pool side and our room had 2 beds and was fairly small (which is fine)
Upon check-in, the lady was very nice and welcoming. We did not notice anything wrong with our room at first but throughout the course of the weekend we noticed things.
They do not do a thorough job of cleaning these rooms. Maybe they do a better job in the more expensive rooms but we still paid almost $500 and were expecting a clean room. The floors were not cleaned. I did not realize this until my friend told me my feet were black after walking around barefoot on the wood floor.
There were dead bugs in a few corners of the room and dust on the bedframes, table and floor. We even checked for bed bugs because that is how grossed out we were.
During our second day there, the cleaning ladies came to our room to clean and when we walked in we noticed nothing had changed so we are not even sure what they did in there.
The location is nice. Right across the street there is a mini golf place and down the road is culvers. Very close to downtown whether you want to walk or drive.
The rooms are very outdated (again that is fine but something to be aware of) and they look way nicer online than they do in person.
The room we stayed in had a horrible shower. Not only was the water pressure awful, but there were 2 showerheads and the water was only coming out of the middle of them vs the whole head. So poor water pressure and not a lot of water coming out..
The beds in our room were extremely uncomfortable it was like sleeping on a rock.
Overall, this place was not horrible but we will not...
Read moreTLDR; cabin was disgusting with a broken lock, they were rude about it and wouldn't move my room, so I got a refund and left. The rest is worth the read i promise. I wanted to love this place. Reviews looked good. On the outside it's cute, and it's close to pretty much everything. They give you a little gift bag at check in. That's the end of the positives. I got a cabin to bring my dog to. $164 a night plus a $25 dollar per night pet fee. I was originally checked into one about three feet from another, with two giant dogs that were not contained, and people outside arguing and blaring music, obviously not ideal. Asked for a different cabin, they moved me one down. This cabin was disgusting. Dust and dirt everywhere, spots all over the walls. Super hard bed and wierd uncomfortable chair. Fridge covered in rust and frozen over, blinds broken so they couldn't be opened or closed properly. Final straw, the door was missing the chain, and the deadbolt didn't lock. I went back again to ask for a new room and was argued with, told I was wrong about what was broken and dirty, and that it was the one I was in or the one i refused initially, for good reason. I ended up demanding a refund so I could leave. Reviews are so very misleading. I work at a hotel and i could not believe the horrible experience here. Just dont. Bella Vista is pet friendly and was way nicer, and...
Read moreMy new Favorite Place! We stayed in a free-standing (there appears to also be shared-wall lodgings) cabin with the interior comforts you would hope for. A TV, small fridge, microwave, coffeepot and iron. A fireplace that isn't wood or gas burning but with rotating flame-look lights. The ambiance from the fireplace was really cozy. You don't have to use the heater part of the fireplace if you only want the look of flames. The cabin has hewn log walls/countertops in the bathroom. A shower/tub combo. There is a rolling barn door to close off the bathroom doorway. Our cabin had 3 windows with blinds that blocked most of the outside light when closed. A wooden front porch that has a roof and 2 chairs on it. For summer heat there is an inground pool that looks super inviting. A bonfire pad with brickwork and chairs. Landscaping that someone took a tremendous amount of time and care to construct. The owners are very welcoming and attentive to their customers and property. We did walk to the lake from here in about 10 minutes, each way. There is a short but steep downhill/uphill but now you know. We look so forward to staying here again in all seasons...and the sooner the...
