Mimi's Cafe — Restaurant in Lakewood

If I could give 0 stars, I would!!!! I am extremely upset at the customer service my friends and I had. WHERE DO I START?! Upon arrival, waited at lobby without being acknowledged by anyone even tho workers were walking back and forth. Mind you, no worries I understand they might had been busy. We finally get acknowledged by the hostess after I wanna say 5 min of just standing, go to eating area where there are about 5 tables. Get seated by hostess very nicely says our waitress will be right with us and hands us menus. No prob! Going great. 10.....20....25 minutes go by and we are THIRSTY. No one has even came to get out drink orders or to say “I’ll be right with you guys” nothing. So one of my friends has to wave someone down and it appears to be our waitress. She finally says “I’ll be right with you” to then we are super frustrated. She finally comes over and after almost memorizing the menu we say we would like to order our drinks please and we are ready to order. Give her our orders and we say thank you. She comes back about a couple minutes after with our drinks and leaves. Everything normal so we’re good. 10....15... minutes go by and no food...OR appetizers ... . we look around and other people at other tables are looking around for their waiter/waitress also. So we’re not the only ones.. 10 min later we see her come out with 3 plates ... finally , right? NOPE it was 3 of us. Two get their orders. I ordered chicken parm and she hands me a sandwich. I say sorry I think I ordered the chicken parm n she goes yes this is it and I say no it comes with pasta... then she quickly says oh sorry! Let me take it back. My company got their accurate food but not me. 5 min later she comes back with our appetizer ... WRONG. We didn’t get the skewers , we got the trio she says YES this is what you asked for we said no , the trio comes with spinach dip also. She then says oh ok sorry I’m fairly new here let me take it back. By that time we were all frustrated so I ask her to get the manager for us. (I tried my hardest not being a Karen) but ya girl was hungry! Oh! And I left out that when she brought the “appetizer “ she brought a basket with breads and side plates. One of the plates had MASHED POTATO RESIDUE left over! DISGUSTING! So we got them to take it back. So anyway the manager came and I said can I ask how much longer for my personal food? He said we’re gonna bring it in a bit I’m sorry n I said I just said I don’t want it anymore to what he said “ma’am PUMP YOUR BREAKS” oh I lost it. I said give me the bill for these two dishes for my guests , because we’re out of here. And my friends didn’t wanna eat anymore so they didn’t ask for to go boxes. He came back and said don’t worry about the bill it’s fine. So we left. Horrible service I wish I got their names. But it was the tall older man and he was wearing a blue button up long sleeve. ( I’m guessing managers apparel). We couldn’t believe what just happened....

Free Mixed Berry Muffin Sundae for E-Club members

Formerly the nearest location to me, Mimi's Cafe in Cerritos closed down, to be replaced by Dimassi's Mediterranean Buffet. Knowing there's a Mimi's Cafe outside the Lakewood Center, I stopped by to redeem my free Mixed Berry Muffin Sundae to go.

Mixed Berry Muffin Sundae- Originally planning for takeout, Mimi's air conditioning felt so cool & welcoming for me to not stay awhile. I asked for the sundae to be plated just as it be would for dine-in, opposed to everything packed separate, for picture-taking. The vanilla ice cream was smooth, the whipped cream frothy, the strawberries fresh & the blueberry muffin moist. This was the first time I've had a muffin in a long time, so relished each spoonful of carbs & calories. I left Mimi's Cafe happy, loving every bit of my free Mixed Berry Muffin Sundae.

Service was excellent. Maria was my attendant, and she was warm, cordial & highly accommodating. Her demeanor was pleasing, and I wish more people working hospitality would be like her. Mimi's Cafe is located between Target & El Torito, at the Candlewood side of the Lakewood Center.

Just a bit more of a drive away, Mimi's Cafe in Lakewood has a great birthday month treat for E-Club members, of which I make sure not to let expire. My satisfaction with the service from Maria, more than matched my satisfaction with my sundae. Plus, the A/C at Mimi's Cafe deserves a star on it's on...

Went there for brunch with my husband on november 21st, 2021 and we put our name in for the wait list and we're quoted 10 to 15 minute wait, since 30 minutes had gone by we decided to check what was taking so long and we're informed they had called us but we didn't respond. We are both hearing impaired, and we're sitting within view of the hostess stand, so we could easily be seen. All the hostess would have needed to do is walk over to us and tell us our table was ready, but she didn't. She instead put the blame on us for not hearing her when she has a very soft voice, which you never blame the customer if you have good customer service skills. The hostesses were extremely rude, and it took getting the manager involved to be seated. Food was fine, and the manager apologized for the way the hostesses had acted, ensuring us we would receive good service. Good Customer Service is fundamental by all staff, not just the manager and wait staff. The hostesses that were working today severely need more training on customer service to ensure this doesn't happen.

update: it's very clear that the higher prices at mimi's Cafe are impacting their business. Service tonight was much better than past...
