Tucked in the far back corner of Southern Market is an absolute treasure named Mekatos. My initial observation was the sign stating “Laos and Colombian fusion”. I never heard of such a unique combination. I ordered the brisket tacos. Upon immediate introduction, my palate was mesmerized with culinary explosion. These are the best tacos I’ve ever eaten in my life. I’m 5’11” and 235 pounds, I’ve eaten plenty of tacos in my life. Mekatos is not an eatery, it is a passageway into a world of culinary art. Subtle flavors of corn emit from the pillowy outer envelope that delivers the complex savory flavor of brisket. There’s an entire party going on in your mouth. Sweet, savory, soft, and crunchy complexities dance while you are entranced by hypnotic flavor. Add to this the plated attention to detail. Mango sliced sticks refresh your palate in between each taste of balanced complexity. The slaw; it’s own medley of goodness. This husband and wife team don’t cook, they create. Their passion is felt and tasted in these brisket tacos at a level you know you didn’t just eat something, you had a culinary experience that introduced you to Laos and Columbian fusion.

Excellent fusion spot in the Southern Market. The staff were very friendly and gave us a sample of the sticky rice as we were unfamiliar with it - so good! We had the sancocho (special of the day - Colombian) and Desiree's plate with chicken (Laos). My boyfriend enjoyed how hearty the sancocho was, but said it was a bit too sweet due to the carrots. He still ate it all though! Desiree's plate with chicken had tasty sticky rice, chicken, and vegetable slaw with a peanut sauce on top to tie it all together. We will definitely be eating here again!

Finding a gluten free option that has great flavor can be difficult. This place nailed it!!! My wife and I always get the Desiree’s plate with brisket and we have been back every week. The crunchy rice is cooked perfectly, the brisket is seasoned and cooked to perfection and the homemade peanut sauce is to die for! The portions are big and the owner is super nice and friendly! I recommend this place to everyone I meet!

I stumbled upon Mekatos Eatery tucked away in the hidden gem of Southern Market, and let me tell you, it's a culinary treasure waiting to be discovered! The moment I saw the sign proudly announcing "Laos and Colombian fusion," my curiosity was piqued, and I knew I was in for a unique dining experience.

I decided to try the stir fry with chicken and a side order of their special crunchy rice, and I must say, it was an absolute delight for my taste buds! The combination of flavors from Laos and Colombia created a culinary masterpiece that I had never experienced before. The stir fry was perfectly cooked, with tender chicken and a harmonious blend of spices that left my palate dancing with joy.

Now, let's talk about the special crunchy rice – it's a game-changer! The texture and taste were so distinct and delicious, adding an extra layer of enjoyment to my meal. It's truly a unique dish that sets Mekatos apart from the rest.

The chef and cashier deserves a special mention for being exceptionally kind, nice, and funny! Their cheerful demeanor added a delightful touch to the entire dining process. It's always a pleasure to interact with staff members who go above and beyond to make customers feel welcome.

And let's talk about the prices – they were more than reasonable for the quality and portion sizes provided. Mekatos Eatery offers a fantastic value for the culinary experience you receive.

If you're a food enthusiast looking for something out of the ordinary, Mekatos Eatery is the place to be. I highly recommend trying their Laos and Colombian fusion dishes for a culinary adventure that will leave you craving more. Kudos to the chefs and the entire team at Mekatos – you've created something...

Walked up to order and there was a younger couple in front of me. The female was eating something off a plate and was raving about it. The guy behind the counter just smiled and said "so it's not terrible, huh?" At this point I knew I was in the right place, let's go. I got the mixed meat tacos, which are basically better versions of the brisket tacos. Lots of textures, flavors, and colors. All of them were incredibly delicious. Probably the best thing I've eaten all year. I also got some sort of chocolate mocha bunt cake that was also phenomenal. Got a to-go order of the tacos and the cake for my wife. And now we're debating going back there tomorrow night..... The food does take awhile, but it is absolutely worth it. Order before you're starving and you'll be as...
