I’ll summarize: you must go! I say that because this might get detailed. It’s Vegas so there are 100’s of food options/resturants. We are so grateful we came across this new place and we feel like our visit was divinely inspired… Perfect atmosphere, stellar service, and phenomenal food.
OK…some details & shouts outs:
For starters, we are here in LV for a work event and for the first time in a long time, my wife was able to travel/attend. Together a little over 10 years, married over 6 1/2, it’s the first time we’ve really had a couples getaway. We are only here 3 nights, dinner on our own the first and third night. I wanted to make sure we had a great dining experience yet there’s tons of fabulous restaurants but many overpriced. I started the Google search as we’re staying in the Venetian…steak was her request. Again, I can’t say how happy I am to have come across Angel’s.
I only read a couple reviews then thought I would investigate more so I read the story of Angel and a little bit about his vision… took a look at the menu and what I thought was very fair pricing, And it was an easy decision to give it a shot.
I set a reservation at 8 PM, We jumped in a Lyft and found our way to the location. FYI: Some of the maps have it off a little bit as it’s newer and there’s a couple different small businesses in the little single story plaza it’s in… But it’s got great signage on the outside and when we walked in the doors, it’s got some really cool… French meets modern decor.
We were greeted by Raine. I had read about her and Kim and of course Angel in the couple reviews and it was cool to put the face with the name. Raine was our server throughout our stay. She wasn’t just a waitress, but a guide, taking us through a journey of the history of the restaurant and had some great suggestions regarding some of the items on the menu.
I like good food and great food is even better… But I’m definitely not a foodie and not picky, literally everything we had was fabulous. My wife, on the other hand…she’s the foodie and can be very picky and she was blown away.
Fun fact that we didn’t know about was the complementary bread sent out right before we got our app, a brioche style loaf… And that set the stage. The Apple spiced butter jam mixed with the butter by Raine’s suggestion was wonderful.
Appetizer choice: Deviled Apples - Granny Smith apple slices topped with Manchego cheese, Serrano ham and spicy apple butter jam. OMG!! Flavor infusion.
Next Amy got the Filet with a sweet potato side. The steak was perfectly cooked & delicious. The sweet potato was this wonderful creation with a glazed sugar that was a perfect compliment
I had the Lobster Mafaldine…”a Lobster tail perched atop Mafaldine pasta tossed in a creamy lobster sauce, cherry tomatoes and fresh spinach leaves”. That’s the restaurant description, but I’ll say it’s a piece of heaven. The pasta is homemade! Tremendous.
Definitely satisfied, but couldn’t pass up dessert. By the way, the very first thing that caught my eye on the menu was the crème brûlée because Amy hasn’t met a crème brûlée she’s not gonna try because it’s her favorite. It didn’t disappoint! Creamy deliciousness with the perfect topping
FYI Slight menu substitution… The hummingbird cake that’s on the menu has been changed to just a rum cake. Why?…as a smaller, newer restaurant they took suggestions seriously and people believed it was a little heavy after a wonderful dinner. The owner/chef solution: rum cake and it was like the brioche loaf at the beginning. Delicate and one bite into the homemade icing band around the bottom…fantastic!!!!
Dining ended with Angel himself coming out and chatting with us. Just an absolutely fantastic experience with perfect service
As I mentioned, we’re here 3 nights, For my company, however we only had a company dinner on the second evening. 1st was Angels and tonight we’ll do it again. Support this restaurant so they stay around for a very long time… you and your taste buds will not be...
Read moreThe Naughty Angel had been on my Go list before it had even opened, but it was not until the place had been running for nearly two months before I made it over there for dinner.
Atmosphere: Let me begin with the exterior setting, as the location does not exactly vibe with an upscale steakhouse, being in a small plaza sandwiched between a strip club and an adult emporium and populated with bail bonds, a tattoo parlor, and hookah lounges. It's at the rear of both Circus Circus and Resorts World, which kind of punctuates the weird dichotomy. Inside, it was a plush garden-like atmosphere. Blue velvet, gold damask, peacocks, classical paintings, ceramics, trees, and chandeliers. Plus the angel wing feather motif. Miscellaneous: Wonder what was in this space before. Large but divvied up in sections so it didn't feel cavernous, but there was a quirky lack of flow. E.g. corridor to restrooms was strangely narrow; freezer case put in an odd, very visible angle behind the bar (they use Breyer's ice cream if you're curious).
Was greeted at the door by the chef himself, Angel Lopez, and escorted to the bar (my choice).
Poison Red Apple Martini ($16): Nice presentation with a dry ice-filled bowl cupping the stemless glass. Leaned sweet over any whiskey. Came with a sidecar so drink volume was pretty good.
Creamy French Onion Soup ($7 Happy Hour): OK-sized bowl; upon asking, bar man Chris said the serving was the same as for the soup on the regular menu ($14). Good enough for Happy Hour but might be considered small at full price. Thin creamy consistency, subtle cheese flavor.
Bread loaf: Complimentary, a thing of increasing rarity nowadays. Compact Parker House roll style. Preferred the butter over the sweet apple jelly.
Braised Lamb Shanks ($65): Huge. Fall-off-the-bone doneness; meat tasted even better when mixed with the smooth mashed potatoes and jus. Plenty of takeaway; leftovers were passable.
Devil's Red Apple ($14): Arrived on a porcelain pillow. Juicy, apple retained some firmness, interesting to eat.
Value: Above average.
Service: Attentive, frequent check-ins from Chris...
