We booked the Velveteen Rabbit for a private event on 12/31/24. Unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing, particularly given that this venue accounted for over 60% of our budget and vastly underdelivered .
Two major issues were:
Heating Problems: The propane tanks for the heaters needed replacing after the event started, leaving the majority of heaters non-functional. This led to significant discomfort for our guests, with some even leaving early. Despite the owner, Christina, stating that new heaters had been purchased, they lacked propane tanks. Consequently, over half of the patio was unusable due to insufficient heating. Our guests were told in advance to wear heavy winter jackets, but heaters were confirmed by email and in person ahead of the event. The matter was reluctantly addressed during the party but it was well into our 2 hour total reservation.
Lack of Wait Service: Wait times to place drink orders were excessively long. With only one waiter and bartender for our expected party of 40, many guests waited over 30 minutes to be served. Despite escorting guests inside myself, service was still slow, and directions about ordering directly from the bar were unclear and changed throughout the night.
While the venue's communication prior to the event was prompt, the overall quality and value of services fell far below expectations. Given the high cost and peak pricing for New Year's Eve, I would have expected more staff and better service. Additionally, the in-house music selection was not fitting for a New Year's reception. Please note, music control is only provided for full bar rentals at an additional add-on cost. Given the size of our party a full bar rental was not justifiable.
Overall, I would not recommend renting this space unless significant changes are made to improve service and value. This was particularly disappointing as the Velveteen Rabbit was a favorite...
Read moreWe were married a little over a month ago, and weâre still floating thanks to Christina and the team at Velveteen Rabbit in Las Vegas. From the moment we enquired, Christina made everything feel effortles - clear timelines, quick replies, thoughtful suggestions, and a calm, can-do approach that took all the stress off our shoulders. She truly thought of everything, and on the day she and the staff executed seamlessly: smooth room flips, perfect pacing, and friendly, attentive service that made our guests feel genuinely looked after. The venue itself has such a cool vibe and neighbourhood energy - intimate, artsy, and atmospheric without trying too hard. And the cocktails - AMAZING!!! Creative, balanced, and beautifully presented - our guests are still talking about them. All our add-ons landed perfectly: the photobooth kept the laughs going, the frosĂ© cart with custom flavours was an instant crowd-pleaser, the audio guest book captured the guest messages, and Christinaâs sister, Pamela, wowed everyone with her tarot card readings (and her beautiful style!!). Our only regret is not staying at Velveteen Rabbit for longer, we loved the space and the energy so much that we wished we had squeezed in a few more hours with our friends and those incredible cocktails. If youâre considering Velveteen Rabbit for your reception, do it - BOOK IT NOWW!!!! Itâs an unforgettable setting run by people who genuinely care about your day. Massive thanks to Christina and the entire team for giving us the most magical celebration. Weâd choose you again in a heartbeat and we cannot wait to come back...
Read moreMy daughter was married on December 31, 2024 in a small intimate setting. Additional guests were invited to a reception at The Velveteen Rabbit with most having traveled from out-of-state to include Alabama, Colorado, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Texas, and Washington DC. The ambience and service at the venue was extremely disappointing. Although it was outside and extremely cold, the majority of the heaters provided had limited fuel and burned out quickly. Additionally, there was no server available in the forum for at least 30 minutes for the two hour allotted time for the reception. In the interim, my daughter, the bride, took guests to the bar to obtain drinks. On multiple occasions patrons of the adjacent bar came into the reception area as there was no notice to them of the private party outside. My daughter brought these issues to the attention of the owner after the event, and although there were responses back-and-forth there was no acceptance of responsibility for the shortcomings on the part of the venue. As the mother of the bride, I was acutely aware of my daughterâs discomfort and sadness as she watched her guests be physically uncomfortable, go without drinks, and leave early because of the issues with the site. What should have been a joyful ending to this wedding celebration turned into a bitterly cold...
