The first LaSpada's Hoagies opened in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea in 1973. The sub shop was opened by John LaSpada Jr. whose family was in the sandwich business. His grandfather was famous for having opened his first hoagie shop in Atlantic City in the 1930's. In 1978, LaSpada sold the business to Harry and Gale Kappes ,who along with their son Phil, now operate 5 locations in Broward and one in Boca. The Lauderdale-by-the- Sea LaSpada's was moved from it's cramped store south of Commercial to this roomier location in 2013.

I have so many fond memories of eating at LaSpadas through the years. They are the best subs around and they will customize it perfectly to your taste. LaSapada's is unique in that they throw the meat down the line, partly for theatrics and partly to move it faster. It was a practice started in the 1970's by a frustrated sandwich maker attempting to move the meat faster down the line. I never get tired of seeing the meat fly through the air and landing squarely on the bread. Another thing that makes LaSpadas special is the meat blanket, a second layer of meat that covers all of the toppings. If you are trying to cut the carbs they also offer salad platters.

After having recently ordered the Italian at the Ft. Lauderdale store I was craving The Monster, a ham, turkey, roast beef combo.As soon as they handed me the sub I was in heaven. Their subs are huge, fresh, and loaded with meat and toppings. Make the experience even better by taking it down to the beach. When you are looking for an epic lunch, you can't go wrong...

The subs were 5 star, the majority of the staff was friendly except for the girl who was working Friday on 6/8/2018 around 3p, who was extremely rude! I brought my family who was visiting from California and we spent roughly around $80 on subs, however I will definitely will not be returning if she’s there. After the nice gentleman cuts the meat I was next in-line. In the middle of making my sub she decides to stop and help another customer whom I guess was a regular there. Without even saying excuse me, I’m going to take this customer really quick. I’m here telling her what I want on my sub when I realize she stop my sub and was making the other customer’s sub. Then I realize shes making the wrong size of sub after she had already put the mayo on it. And I brought it to her attention she was full of attitude. We ate inside and I watched her interact with the other customer and she was so unfriendly, cold to others, as well. Doesn’t smile , yells out “ what do you want on subs.”. She obviously is not a people person. She shouldn’t be working directly with customer. The only reason I rated a 1 star was because of her. My family also thought she was...

I normally don’t feel inclined to leave a review when I come to laspadas it’s always great . Hands down my favorite cold subs & never disappoints & if you know you know . Today it was so good I felt inclined to leave a review . The large roast beef I ordered is something I order all the time , but today it was made so perfectly I wanted to give the time to recognize the service of the young man who helped me . I didn’t get his name but he had medium length dreads . He was patient when puting everything together , had good suggestions and put a good amount of portions on the sub , but not to much . Just right , like he was making it for himself . I want to say there isn’t anytime I’ve ever not enjoyed my sandwich from this location but today this guy deserves the extra recognitions . Thank you whole la Spada’s team for always providing an above average experience and making the best cold subs around . If you never had laspadas I recommend stopping by . I always get the roast beef on white but you can’t go wrong with anything...
