The overall experience was very underwhelming. The food is a 50-50 chance. The one dish was phenomenal, the other was mediocre at best. For this level of dining, everything needs to be considered. The seating, the arrangement of the seats, the music, etc.
We made a reservation for 2 early early on, as we are busy people and like to plan out our time. Keep in mind, this reservation is for 2 and it was placed early enough.
We come in, young, nice looking couple. We are clearly trying to have a nice intimate dinner. I came in dressed in a beautiful dress, my man came in in a nice shirt and pants. I was all dolled up, got my heels on, clearly we look good and want an intimate setting. We were seated at a table of 4 next to the kitchen, and cramped up to our right side next to another table of 6+ people. Why?
Why are you seating us next to a full, loud table AND NEXT TO THE KITCHEN where there is high traffic. It was also honestly not very appealing where we were seated. The ugly white hallway that looks like a 1960s hospital, accompanied by all the traffic of servers and busboys and whoever else! Annoying! And the loud table, ugh!! & yeah so not covid safe having this big table close to me on my right side.
Drinks. For drinks, my man ordered his go to pinot noir meiomi. It came out in a stupid little vial that was then poured into a wine glass. It only filled the wine glass like half-way at best. For a 14-18 dollar glass of wine, you can bring out the wine glass full already. So ridiculous. Italian places always give us a good pour. This was just underwhelming. I ordered a basic vodka cran. It was good.
Food. My man LOVES his rigatoni alla vodka, so naturally that's what he ordered. We expected it to be incredible but it was just mediocre. I felt bad for him. We wanted to do something special and it was so underwhelming. Our local mom and pop italian restaurant can do a better vodka sauce. This sauce resembled marinara almost. It didn't have that creamy taste we're used to. He ordered sausage with it, which cost $10.95 to add a link of sausage. That is just obnoxious. I ordered the linguini and clams, and it was absolutely divine. The sauce was perfect. It had the right amount of seasoning and garlic. It was unbelievably good. The clams were amazing too. I would go back just for the linguini and clams!
The music was also so dumb. It was like techno "how deep is your love." Really? Why? We're not at a club. It's clearly meant to be a nice romatic, dim setting.
Our bill, as expected, came out high. That was fine. My food was good, but my babe's was honestly mediocre at best. Overpriced and not worth it. His wine glass was like less than half full. Ridiculous. The seating was ridiculous next to the high traffic area and next to a loud table of 6+ with kids...
Overall underwhelming experience.
This restaurant gave me major chili's vibes when we did not pay chili's prices. 👎
Look at that rigatoni alla vodka! It looks so underwhelming and not...
Read moreWow! Fantastic restaurant with a combination of great Italian fair as well as beautifully prepared steaks and seafood. You get the best of both worlds at Carmine’s. Rosebud Italian and exceptional seafood & chops!
We went with a group - some of whom have been there several times. This was our first visit. The atmosphere was reminiscent of a Morton’s, Mastro’s, Steak 44, Dominic’s or high end steak/seafood restaurant. A place you can go casual or more dressed up if you want to.
The prices are up there. We spent a good $150 per person with drinks and tip. But we were not stingy and had copious amount of appetizers, mains and wine.
Let’s start with the appetizers. We had: Italian sausage, meatballs, stuffed mushrooms, eggplant stack, and calamari. All were superb. Would absolutely recommend any of them, but if you want something unique, get the meatballs and the eggplant stack (which also acts as a salad). We are Italian and these meatballs were as good or better than my grandma’s. The Italian sausage was a great blend with a hint of red chili spice. Fantastic to eat with their fresh dinner bread. The stuffed mushrooms were delicious and served on a light bed of polenta. Really great choice as well.
We could have stopped there. This was nearly enough food to fill up everyone at the table of 11. (We ordered doubles of each appetizer and had some left for take home)
So order your entree’s carefully if you go BIG on the appetizers as we did (which can easily serve as your meal).
For the mains, we suggest sharing for sure. They are large portions.
We did many items on the menu. Stand outs include the veal Franchesco, bolognese (on flat or the ribbon noodles), halibut, zuppe di Pesce (over marinara noodles), ribeye, and eggplant Parmesan.
We also had gnocchi, chicken Parmesan and lasagna. All great and all very large portions. We took a lot of food home!
It was too much food if we are being honest. And if I were doing this as a group of four (2 couples), it would be 1-2 appetizers, one salad and a main and pasta shared between each couple. That would be more than enough - unless you like take home!
This is not a big plate/small serving size restaurant. You get a large portion of food.
For desert, we tried the carrot cake, banana cream pie (a special) and the sopapilla’s
All delicious. And even though we had 11 people, we couldn’t finish those three items as we were all so full.
The service was first rate. Attentive, personable and knowledgeable staff that took great care of us. What you expect for this level of restaurant - but even better.
The food was delivered all at once. No one had to wait. And it all arrived piping hot and ready to eat. That’s fantastic with a large party.
Highly recommend Carmine’s for your special night out. It’s a fantastic restaurant experience and we...
Read moreThis restaurant is a joke. You walk up to it. It looks so nice on the outside, but once you get in not so much. Service was horrible. Food was cold. And then, at the very end, a T-shirt of mine was laid on the table while digging through a backpack to pay for the bill. We walked out and left it laying on the table. We were gone for all of seven minutes when I realized, it was left. Went back to retrieve it and that’s when I left more irritated than I ever have in my life leaving A restaurant. Everyone I asked for help walked around staring at me like they just saw ghost what T-shirt there was a man in a blue suit I don’t know what his job was but he look like an important person and some woman with a Bob haircut. Both of them were worthless. They just stood there like deer in head lights they could see I was extremely upset, but they still did nothing but stare at me and tell me I don’t know what happened to it. The man in the suit question why I would leave my T-shirt laying on the table. I had explain to him how it all happened. Is that necessary? It was left on the table. Then the woman with the Bob argued with me about what color it was. I said it was navy blue, and my friend said it was black. We both just looked at her and said it’s a dark T-shirt . Neither one of those very important looking individuals were helpful and only proceeded to be extremely, not concerned about finding it. Absolutely worthless, both of them, The only person who did anything was our waiter and he was a good waiter the entire time, even though the food was cold and our cokes never got put on our table he made sure it was. He was great, and he was on it immediately when I told him he was trying to help me physically looking. he dug until he found it in a garbage can and brought it out. In a white bag. I get out to the car and take it out of the bag. It’s disgusting. It was thrown in the garbage and had food all over it that smelled like vomit to show the man in the blue the lady with the Bob and both of them just stood there again said nothing. How could that have happened in seven minutes while I was gone to get my car? What a joke they did nothing they destroyed a brand new T-shirt. That I really liked covered in vomit smell. It smelled so bad in my car I almost threw up myself. I’m in the service industry and I would never leave a client that upset I would do something to help. Standing there saying oh sorry, is not efficient Don’t waste your evening going to this place they don’t care about their clientele whatsoever. The only person in that entire restaurant that had any common sense was the waiter. He deserves great praise. He handled the situation. Thank you to you, sir. everybody else should take some lessons from him. He...
