I don’t usually do this, but today I had to make an exception. Food review incoming!
Where did I eat: Birria Boss Location 1320 O St. Lincoln Nebraska Time of day: 11:30 What I ordered: Birria Quesadilla
Burria Boss is new to me, this location replaced the African Cuisine “Fast Stir”. The mood of this place hasn’t changed much from its predecessor, though it does have some nice beats playing. What has changed is the food. The menu is small, but I would argue this is to the benefit of the food. If Raisin Canes can pull it off for chicken fingers, this place has pulled it off for Birria!
The food arrived in short order (about 5 minutes) and as I carried it back to my table I couldn’t help but appreciate the presentation. They could have hidden all the flavor beneath the tortilla, but these guys want you to know what is in store. The swirls of sour cream and what I imagine was some sort of green pepper blend, on top of a crisp brown tortilla.
The first bite, erupted in sweet, sour, spicy flavors. Hints of onion. The Birria was tender and flavorful. It wasn’t “spicy” but it did have a comfortable heat that warms you. After 2 of 4 slices, I squeezed the lime wedge out on the remaining half and it only got better.
The portions are fair, the presentation is fantastic and modern. If you wish to try something new, give Birria Boss a try. I myself am going to try and make this a weekly venture. They...

Service 5* Walked in and ordered from the bar. We were warmly welcomed by a man who was very knowledgeable of the menu, gave us suggestions (we had not been there before). He suggested the birria fries, which my husband ended up ordering. More on that later!
Atmosphere 5* Local art decorates their walls (all for sale!). It was nice the different talents on display. Seats and tables were clean. We went over the lunch hour on a Wednesday. We got there just in time! After we ordered there was a line 10 people deep.
Food 4* Birria fries are highly recommended. The fries are very unique and there are lots of different flavors going on!
I ordered the birria tacos and the elote. I love the birria, but I think it’s the seasoning in the consomé I’m not a fan of here. Maybe the amount of cumin? The elote I believe is not fresh corn. I’m a sucker for fresh corn, so didn’t enjoy the elote as much as I had hoped.
I want return and try the churro cheesecake and order the...
Read moreWe came here on a Friday at around 7pm. The place was about half full, but there was plenty of seating available. They have a good variety of tables and booths, and there is also room to sit at the counter. The woman who took out order was very nice, and answered any questions that I had. The prices were very reasonable. I ordered the birria ramen fully loaded and also a birria taco and a Mexican coke. The ramen was delicious and getting it fully loaded adds elote, which I would highly recommend. I was worried that it might be too salty, but it was not. It was very savory and creamy with corn and beef, and was very filling. The birria taco was also very good, and came with plenty of birria to dip, and also a lime wedge and a salsa to add. I ended up drinking the excess birria because it was simply too good to waste. This is a great restaurant, and they hit the mark on birria. I would highly recommend that you...
