This was a lot of fun.
We went online and reserved a space. I liked that we only had to pay for one person to make the reservation, rather than a group rate, and we were able to pay separately there. (Btw, it was electronic payment only. No cash.)
When we arrived, we found parking in one of the paid parking structures. We walked over and had to walk up the stairs to get to the location. It's not much to look at from the outside, but inside is pretty cool.
We walked inside and they were ready for us. We all signed a waiver, and had to show our IDs because they said it's classified as a 'bar' because they serve alcoholic beverages.
There were 7 of us ladies and we had 2 lanes for 90 minutes. Everyone was a novice, but we made it fun and the coach (Sebastian) was great too. He set us up nicely, and kept coming back to help us out, and his guidance actually worked. Lol. He gave us pointers and games to play, which made it interesting. Overall, I would say this was a great experience, and I would definitely recommend this outing for a group.
Also, just as a side note, there are several food spots within walking distance if you're hungry afterwards. Or before. (we chose...
Read moreCame here on Saturday night. Staff was really friendly, they set us up on a lane, no waiting. Explained how to throw and the safety rules. There were a ton of lanes and it wasn't busy at all. We even got to learn some trick shots like underhand. Loved the walk-in price, cheaper than other axe throwing places I've been to.
The only things I would change would be adding hooks for coats (because they just slide off the backless bar stools) and putting wipe boards at the lanes to keep track of score (walking around the table each time was kind of annoying after a while to keep score). Or a small wipe board on the table itself, not on the column behind.
But definitely a great experience and I would recommend them to anyone looking for a fun activity. There's a public parking lot about a block away making it easy to walk over in just a...
Read moreWhen I went into Bad Axe I had thrown axes only once before and I was laughably bad (I missed the target and hit an entirely unrelated wall). Thanks to the guidance of Quinn, one of their coaches, I was able to learn some good techniques and get a few bullseyes! I was hesitant to try the two handed throwing technique because I've been bad at using two hands for dexterous tasks before but Quinn was able to show me how to properly throw and taught me about where to stand/how distance affects the rotation of the axe. I had such a fun time and I look forward to bringing my friends here in the future (if only so I...
