After reading some of the reviews for this place online, we decided to try it for ourselves. We decided to do our Saturday breakfast there. We got ready to go when we realized Zuzu’s didn’t open until 8am. We knew we would get there a little early but being from out of town we started to understand that finding parking seems to be part of the process for eating at some places. There was an open parking spot directly in front of Zuzu’s but it was marked as a 30 minute spot so we relocated and turned on North on Olive Ave. there was no parking on this street so we went to E Roble Way (1 block north) and parked on some open street parking there. It was labeled 1 hour parking from 9am to 6pm so we would have 2 hours before having to worry about any tickets.
After walking the block we were there about 8:05am and were the 3rd group of people there. Me and my girlfriend looked at the menu and most everything seemed to sound interesting and good. We placed our order at the counter, were handed a number stand to put on our table and were told to select any 2 person table we wished to sit at that was open. They have a covered dining area (patio like) and curb side seating that is mostly covered with shades. We decided to sit on the curb seating. In the patio area seating they had a water station where you can serve your own water and also a silverware station, although it seemed that every table had silverware in a silverware holder along with napkins, salt and sweeteners. There was no pepper on the table for pepper lovers (like my girlfriend) but they did have a pepper grinder I guess on one of the patio stations when my girlfriend went to go inquire.
The drinks we ordered, espresso and a mocha, came to our table approximately 7 to 10 minutes after ordering. We took a few sips and were in conversation when our food came. I would say it was about 12 to 15 minutes from order to when we got our food.
The food was delicious. My Lemon Ricotta Pancakes were delicious. The blueberry on top was wonderful but I also think that the pancakes by themselves would be amazing as well. I added some maple syrup to them and dug in. My mouth was happy. My girlfriend ordered The Baileys and a Cinnagave Shaken Espresso. She shared some of the potatoes with me with some of the caramelized onions and oh man they were tasty! The piece of bacon she gave me was so thick it actually took some efforts to eat, and that is not a complaint.
We discussed how much better the experience would have been if we hadn’t visited on a heatwave weekend. It was 77 degrees with 76% humidity at 8am. Overall I am very happy with my visit here and would recommend this place to anyone.
The staff here was also friendly...
Read moreLast weekend, I was able to travel to Long Beach with my girlfriend. And we got a great recommendation from a Starbucks employee about a breakfast spot in downtown Long Beach not too far from the airport. She said that Zuzu’s petals was to die for and that the atmosphere and the food was absolutely excellent. And she did not disappoint with this recommendation.
Though it is a smaller café, the staff works diligently to create absolutely delicious food that hits the highest mark of deliciousness and amazing food that feels like it was made with love. The two breakfasts that we decided to get was the sweet potato pancakes and also the “ I can’t decide” breakfast plate.
The sweet potato pancakes are definitely something I reminisce, despite making my way back home to Vegas and I have been craving it ever since. The fluffiness, the hazelnut butter spread and Crème Frâche, in can the pomegranate seeds add the perfect pair of sweetness without being overpowering. The “I cant decide” breakfast platter was able to balance the meal in a sweet to savory combination, from the way that the eggs and bacon are prepared and even the sourdough was absolutely delicious and feels like a very light meal to set the tone for you morning.
I’m truly appreciative for the staff and from the time we ordered our food to the time we sat down, it was a great way to start out little weekend getaway and I can definitely say we will be back again very soon.
If you’re in the downtown Long Beach area get there early and trust be when I say you won’t regret it. This is a gem restaurant that will having you come back more and perfect for a date to catch up with friends or your significant other!!
All love the ZuZu Petals staff for making it...
Read moreI am visiting from San Diego this weekend and found this spot! Definitely expect a wait, there's guaranteed to be a line. You order at the front and then they seat you and your party. We waited about 15 minutes, but the line moved pretty quickly. There's outdoor seating (near street/sidewalk with umbrellas) and a few tables with covered seating as well. Parking is a little difficult in this area, but that's Long Beach for ya! This place is definitely worth a try if you're in the area. Food is delicious and fresh, service is great, and it's such a cute little vibe. Oh! They also have a yummy seasonal drink menu. Food/drink review: Ginger Kombucha (canned): (5/5) Loveddd this kombucha. It was delicious!
Curious George latte??: (5/5) | don't remember the name. It was a seasonal drink. I don't drink coffee, but tasted my friend's and it was DELICIOUS. The cold foam and caramel were chef's kiss.
Nutella croissant: (5/5) This was bigger than I thought! It's stuffed with Nutella inside and has a nice crunch to the outside, but buttery soft inside.
House pancakes: (5/5) These were bomb. Great texture, flavor, and the syrup was not overly sweet. I'd definitely order for the table again. It's a big portion!
we wanted the lemon ricotta pancakes, but weren't on the menu. We also wanted the brioche but they sold out!!*
Lobster omelette: (4.5/5) My friend said it was delicious! Quite buttery, but great flavor overall.
Skillet: (5/5) Simple, yet delicious! Good portion of...
