Molly Malone's was closed and the Kibitz Room was too much further.
About the best thing to say is they have the weakest cocktails closest to the Writers Guild building on Fairfax and Third. But don't expect to find the Coach and Horses reincarnated. Neither Orson Wells nor F. Scott Fitzgerald would have been caught dead in this place.
The Grey Goose martini tasted like dishwater and made both of us sick. Even a plain Coca-Cola from the gun was flat and over-syrupped.
The black and white photographs of mid-20th century Hollywood icons were interesting but the rest of the decor was odd (e.g. repro Tiffany-style lamp sconces with 80s style granite counters and too-clean copper (tin?) looking ceilings.
The music was outright schizophrenic -- Sinatra, acoustic Dylan, and Johnny Cash.
And why is there an ATM there if the bar doesn't take cash?
Bottomline, a 'blue collar' cocktail bar isn't an achievement in ironic watering hole naming, it's an oxymoron. A tall boy of PBR in a brown bag has more of a working-man's...
Read moreI loved this bar because they make delicious custom cocktails, but I came here last night and didn’t feel welcomed at all. The vibe was weird. Me and the person I was with were not acknowledged for several minutes. The two bartenders just looked at us while one of them made a drink for himself. After waiting for a while I said out loud “is someone going to ask me what I want?” Only then did another bartender come by and ask me if I’ve been helped. Me and the person I was with were the only black people in this place and I did not like my experience at all. I really want to come back, but maybe I should on a different night when there are different bartenders working. I came here during the summer last year and really enjoyed my experience. The bartender that served me was so nice and made great drinks during that time…. Not sure what what...
Read moreIf you're into inventive bespoke cocktails, this is the place for you. You give them a type of liquor and a general vibe or flavor profile, and they'll flesh out the drink from there. They have every liqueur, syrup, juice, or bitters you could possibly fathom — and even some you can't — so every drink has something unique. Special shoutout to Troy for mixing some of the best drinks I've ever tasted.
Ambience is nice too — a small, intimate bar with top-tier classic rock, pop, and folk staples playing. It's more a place to have quality time with your people than it is to throw your bachelorette party.
One thing to be aware of: with tip, you're probably paying ~$20 per drink, so it's definitely on the pricier side. Absolutely...
