There are 2 buildings in Axis, one where the leasing office is located and another that is a block away from the leasing office. I currently in the building that does not have the leasing office.
LOCATION: I don't have everything at my front door but at least a block or two away. Completely walkable. The positive side about not having such things like 7eleven, grocery stores, and restaurants right out of your front door, is so that you don't get unwanted people, and some of those people can be very unfriendly or a little aggressive in asking things from you. But those who are not familiar with city living or DTLA, Bank of America is literally across from the Building. All with in a 3 block radius we have, Birdies (chicken sandwich and donut shop), Habachihana Grill, Chase Bank, DTLA Ramen, Cabanas (pretty good Salvadoran food), Shekarchi Bar and Grill, Chipotle, Arashi Sushi, Prank Bar, Genwa Korean BBQ, Starbucks...(list goes on and on...I'm sure by now if you wanted more information, you could google it and virtually drive around the streets yourself.)
AXIS BUILDING: My previous home I lived in had paper thin walls, I can hear their TV, music, their arguments, I could even hear my neighbors above me walk in their apt since they walked heavy footed. Most architecture company try to get the most money for the least material used or cheap materials. But since I moved here, I honestly don't know if have neighbors. I heard front doors slam time to time from people who don't know how to properly shut a door (guiding the door shut with their hand). But even the door slamming is faint since it's not my current neighbor but someone way down the hall or on a different floor. My window faces the pool and BBQ, I leave my window open for fresh air 90% of the time, and people using the area seem very respectful towards the surrounding neighbors along with those who might be out there laying out and reading a book.
LEASING OFFICE/STAFF: I was probably one of the easiest lease since I already had my mind set on Axis. Caroline helped me, and she's been great! I've only been hear for 2 months and never had to reach out to maintenance as of yet. But I do see a female building caretaker on my floor always working hard and always saying hello.
COURTESY PATROL: These guys and gals are the best! They call you making sure your expecting someone before sending them up. I get a text msg on my phone when a package arrive and they are the ones holding them for you. Michael / Mike is by far my favorite since I encounter with him the most. Now one thing I would have to say is don't come around 12:00pm - 2:00pm to go get your package. If your courtesy patrol guy is not in your building the other building's courtesy patrol is covering for any urgent emergencies for an hour and vis versa. This is their lunch time, let them peacefully have their lunch. I've seen a very small handful of residents complain like childish brats about someone not being there for literally during what most PST people would normally have a lunch, for a package they can literally go downstairs for at another time. My advise, Just use common sense, avoid picking up your package during those...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have been an Axis resident since August 2018 and I have loved every minute of it! Although I'm leaving to move closer to work, my apartment hunt process has highlighted how lucky I am to live at Axis for a few reasons:
Marcus + Caroline + Dennis + Front Desk Team -- WORLD CLASS SERVICE. Truly cannot say enough amazing things about the Axis team's attention to detail and willingness to go above and beyond for residents. You never have to worry about packages, cleaning service entry into your space, or any issue going unaddressed. I feel safe and secure knowing there is always someone at the front desk. Most buildings in LA don't have true front desk staff 24 hours per day like Axis.
Community + Neighborhood -- DTLA can be very sketchy but not our neighborhood! The South Park district has cleaning + security detail patrolling which gives a different feel than the busier historic core of downtown. Additionally, pre-COVID Axis held monthly community events where I was able to meet + connect with neighbors. This is a building of respectful + professional people and if you're open to it, you can totally make friends! This side of Downtown is only going to continue to bloom with the opening of The Proper + The Hoxton on 11th. PRO-TIP: Zinque and Prank are the best neighborhood spots for a quick walk + drink :)
Amenities -- Again, until apartment hunting I didn't realize how great Axis amenities are. I have lived in both 11 and 12 buildings. Personally, I love the rooftop so I prefer 12. However, living in 11 with the gym + courtyard + pool is nice too. There are plenty of areas to work from home, chill out, or even host people for an event!
Cleanliness -- In the age of COVID, this one is KEY! I have to give a shoutout to the Axis Porter Team who cleans elevators/common areas each day to ensure we are not spreading COVID. Both Axis buildings are kept in pristine condition and smell great. Occasionally some neighbors have improper trash disposal, but again -- the Axis team responds quickly to ensure all common areas are clean + tidy.
WORLD CLASS SERVICE -- I have to come back to this. The concierge + front desk team at Axis are OUT OF THIS WORLD!! You will not find a better staff. Major shoutout to Dennis, Porsche, Jose, Nat, and everyone else! This is by far what I will miss the most about Axis. In touring other apartments I realized how lucky we are.
All in all, if you're looking for a place to live Downton -- AXIS IS IT!!! It's the best community. Marcus and Caroline are amazing and it has been such a pleasure to be a resident over the past two years. If you care about cleanliness + excellent service + convenient location, you've found the...
Ā Ā Ā Read morei just arrived to my apartment and the floors were just dirty. it was as if they never cleaned it after allowing others to tour it. there were a few maintenance issues but they were fixed in a timely manner. however, those bells on the weekend are truly annoying. itās honestly a little smaller than i thought but itās good. however, i wanna skip to karim, the property manager. his demeanor is very patronizing especially in situations where u would think someone would show a little more consideration. and upon telling him, heād pretty much respond making it clear he has no intent to properly address a concern, the service experience from him is terrible. tama, is nice. sheās helpful, professional and relatable. the two leading consultants there are good too itās just that i donāt feel they as a collective do what the can to understand information beyond the general knowledge neither do they try and recommend other resources or information that CAN be helpful. its just very mediocre. but i hadnāt had that experience with Tama.
iām constantly getting blast emails about what not to do and about rules an policy. itās so annoying to constantly receive messages like, āhay donāt do that guys! thatās badā all the time. itās just rlly annoying.
i also had a situation where i would email a concern and they pretty much would ignore my message. even from chellie , the regional manager. itās like, if i donāt initiate itā¦., i donāt know. like i donāt know.
also, i had a situation with a roommate and the situation progressed because the apartmentās security team released information they werenāt supposed to release which pretty much effected my living situation and when i tried to get them to clear it up, they didnāt. so i donāt know.
u would get a notice saying served in a conspicuous location but they would mail it instead⦠there are a lot of careless mistakes.
with the service and the careless mistakes, and the unwillingness to make the experience a more lux experience, i feel like the price drops because of that.
it almost feels like itās not worth it even w the...
