Catch 21 — Restaurant in Los Angeles

The building is unique in its appearance consisting of a combination thatched and tin roof that covers two outdoor patio sections. The larger section serves as an entrance from the parking lot while the other section serves as an entrance off the public sidewalk on Central Street. You can sit outdoors and enjoy the breeze with your family and friends. The building sits on a lot that is triangular in shape creating a hut type vibe. Catch 21 has "neighbors" that are disadvantaged but this establishment appears to have control over undesirable foot traffic. When entering, I noticed there is a rope dividing people into picking up or placing orders. Due to COVID 19, the inside seating is roped off. I have patronized this establishment several times on different days and I have been greeted by friendly young ladies at the register each time. The menu items along with prices are posted on a large board above the food prep and cooking area. You can see the guys working in the kitchen behind the counter and regular patrons offer their hellos and gratitude to the cooks. If you do not see something on the menu, just ask. The ladies are very helpful. I have ordered fish, shrimp, catfish, and calamari plates which come with your choice of french fries, rice, or baked potatoes. Cole slaw is included not drinks. I usually have to wait about 15 minutes tops. The food is delicious, fresh, and served hot. I believe everything is fried but you will have to ask for yourself. I order food from Postmates. It taste good with good portion sizes.

Only complaint I have and the reason 3 stars is on Postmates there's 3 different kinds of clam chowder. New England clam chowder, stew seafood clam chowder, and clam chowder.

That kind of confused me so I called them. I asked her and she told me she doesn't know why it says that since they only have one style of clam chowder.

Ok... So I order stew seafood clam chowder since it's the cheapest on Postmates.

When it arrived, it's not what I expected to be. It's not creamy white clam chowder. Instead it's redish soup. It does not have too much clam. Instead it had chicken, fish, very little clams, and it probably contain other meat in it but not sure.

They should have pictures and better description on Postmates what you are getting.

I won't order clam chowder from them again....

First time and alway passing by but havent really thought about going there for some reason. They even have their own parking space. Seems it used be a lively place and wanted to check them out. Honestly, the first impression was bad. A group of homeless people were sitting outside. They left the table by the time we order and waiting. Thank you for good food and service. It must be really hard to stay in business in that area but you have neighbors back you up. Charbroiled sole fish was good. Their bass was a little hard for me but favor mushy textures so it doesnt count. a plate comes with buttery rice, coleslaw, Tartar sauce.
